I would imagine a large Sub-Woofer box would be ideal for such a thing.

You know, like kids put in the trunk of their car.

Well, other than owning a Fender Bassman 50 tube amplifier, which requires tweaking to keep alive, I never have built my own amp. I love tinkering with stuff, though, so I'd probably enjoy it. I have several antique clocks I've restored at various levels. Midnight and noon is a real blast around here, because I don't like things that don't work. The clocks must be running, and running accurately. I can sleep right thru the noise now, but I've had guests ask it we could at least turn off the cuckoo clock at night.

As far as projects go, my first big one will be to refinish my great grandfather's old violin (yeah, I know, you should never do that, but this thing hung out on a porch in east texas for 40 years, then somebody literally brush painted it w/ red barn paint), so i stripped it.

Beautiful wood, scratched into the wood was "Knxvill Tenn, 1871".

I'm trying to figure out what to put back on that to get it playable.

But yeah, in general, I love taking things apart.

Maybe use the enclosure/faraday cage from an old (huge, you know the ones..) PC to house the power supply within it?

I'm just going to build it as a head. Just buy a stock aluminum box off mouser for the chassis, although the corn bread pan is funny.

Eventtually, I'd like to try to build 1966 a black face bassman. You can get the schematics and chassis layout off the internet. Apparently all the parts are available. The thing is all point to point wiring inside.

Everyone who knows anything about it however has told me to build the simple one first. Apparently, the real trick is to get the hum and distortion tuned out once you get it wired up. They tell me the multistage bassman would just get away from a newbie like me.

The pink/shiney ones are worse.

They should be ostracized. To keep them from contaminating the good, wholesome, decent amps.

Yes, and most of the people who play them are liberals, e.g., Country Joe and the Fish, Eric Clapton, Paul Kantner, etc. What does that tell you?

Oh I know.. With every keystroke I'm awaiting a hiss from Goldi about something trivial.

Along with a minor slight of some type from the ambiguously gay duo, Trace & Floyd.

Along with Badeye either posting something nonsensical or (quite overtly) braging about the size of his penis.

Ahh, the bad ole' days.. How they sucked.

Actully, we should go back in the posts and mark the exact day he said that. Then, each year thereafter, we could celebrate "Willy Day" where we run a thread laughing at this remark.

The thread can start with badeys post. No comment. No explanation. Then everyone can spend the day making of it what they will. We can invite all the people from the other forums to celebrate Puppy Peter Day with us.

Yes. It might be best to keep that name from sullying this forum. From now on I'm just going to refer to him as "Puppy Peter" or "The Vienna Sausage".

That may be appropriate since you-know-who thinks everyone who has ever imbibed in the evil alcohol should be killed. I'm sure the irony would be lost on him though.

Here's something that's really cool: Robot Monkey Head PC Interface

The monkey head has microphones in its ears so that the eyes follow you when it speaks or listens.

Your PC will still have the keyboard, mouse and monitor, but you will now have the option of sitting across the room and controlling your PC by talking to the monkey head.

The monkey head will return information that would normally appear on your PC screen by speaking. The mouth moves realistically when it speaks and the eyebrows and forehead show emotion.

I presented this to some people this afternoon and they said it looked like something invented by somebody on drugs. They didn't appreciate the adavantage of the hands free PC operation.
