I've made the title length when posting articles a setable parameter, and upped it to 300 for TOS4.

No one tell TLBSHOW.

LOL!!

olde dogs

Yup, true, and I lay around on a lotta porches these days. ;)

I tried to remember when I got online, and I think it was within two weeks of the Murrah bombing in April 1995, and thats' coming fast upon 10 years ago.

Even still, I'm a rookie compared to some.

Where's that classic graphic you had about the lady holding the internet monitor saying "all my friends live in here!!"

Hahaha! I remember that one now ... can't tell you where it went though ... that was several computers and hard drives ago.

i was just iming with Arator and he came up with a good one, "Freedom4um"

That is a good name. There is no reason we couldn't adopt it. Just reserve com, org and net like we did for tos4. I can kick in for this. Keep tos4 on, just have it bring up a page with an href to the new name. Have an explanation on the page that the name is in the process of being changed. We could later use tos4 as some sort of sub forum.

Understood...I used to laugh at people w/ laptops, until I bought one and damn, I thought I was net addicted BEFORE?

I don't know how people live without 'em. You could sell every TV and dvd player in the house and it'd be weeks before I'd miss 'em, but I know if the laptop has been moved an inch. :)

"Real" hobbies are just so time consuming, and you have to dress and leave the house.

How about "The Vienna Sausage that Dares not Speak it's Name"? The Oscar Wilde gay overtones are a nice touch considering who we are talking about.

LOL ... I recently set up a new domicile and left the teevee behind. Don't miss it one bit, but would enjoy the cooking channel and Discovery type stuff.

Otherwise you are right ... hobbies. The net is just a hobby.

I've been thinking about getting a tablet PC ... mostly for work though. Have you had any experience with them?

Be sure to check out the reconditioned lap top stores in your area. Like Mr. Laptop in San Antonio. I picked up a really great reconditioned IBM Think Pad for $350. After I bought a huge ram for it it ran great. The internal wifi radio is better than any of the desk top stuff I've ever bought.

Nope, I bought a Dell Latitude that a friend of mine rebuilt and tweaked w/ extra ram and a larger hard drive. It does just fine for most things.

I recently purchased a laptop for travel. And, I got my daughter one as a Christmas gift. Do make sure you get a wi-fi ready laptop as they are so easy to use for a connection. My daughter is "borrowing" the signal from a neighbor which is quite the thrifty thing to do. LOL

I've heard of that. I have a "wired" ethernet card, but the wireless ones are cheap, I just didn't wanna buy the router to go along with.

Do you just pick up the signal like a TV antenna or does it take special software?

I already have cable internet, but it'd be nice to be able to catch something "on the skip" when I'm away from home on the laptop. :D

No special software if you are using XP. I'm not sure about earlier Windows versions. As for catching connections on the skip, you can find free "Hot Spots" by doing a google search using "free hot spots", or I hear this a small portable device (about the size of a pen" that will tell you when you are in range of a signal and the newer ones will even tell you which signals are "open" with no need for a password.

Already this morning the person who is not to be named on this site has done the following:

1. Denied that Tommy Franks ever said that Douglas Feith "is the stupidest fucking guy on the face of the earth", because it wasn't in the book he wrote. "Bottom line is Franks never once mentioned anything remotely close to this"

2. Congratulated Crystalk for having a concise accurate picture of what is going on in Iraq.

Their concern is only because it is a threat to their OWN HEGEMONY over the United States of America.

Iraq's success in its fledgling democracy is very good news for all the Christians in the world and for all decent men and women of goodwill everywhere.

"I think you have a very concise, accurate picture of how things are. "

3. Congratulated another bot:

Yes, and this was most certainly worth 1,300 American lives. Yes.

It was.

"Yes, their deaths were not in vain, unlike St Kennedy and LBJ's war in Vietnam."

4. Refused to tell an 86 year old WWII vet (blackhorse) who or what FU is:

Ask somebody else Why? Is FU a secret organization that you can not tell me what the FU site is?

"Nope, I just have no interest in discussing wacko's that ran away from the truth, as the "FU Clan" did two years ago."

Honestly, you can't make stuff like this up. We simply must have a thread dedicated to what this moron says in the space of 10 minutes. The above is only a small sampling just from this morning!
