It depends on the reason. If it's because the from address uses tos4truth.org in the name and it's not yet recognized, then that might be prevented as an anti-spam measure.
If you use your own address, it should work, or wait for the tos4truth name to become active in your neck of the woods. All is set up there now so it's just a matter of time.

If you guys are reading: Goldi just told the bunch on TOS2 that there was too much treason on the site. She was consideing some new posting rules. Burkeman1 quit on the spot and everyone else is razzing thes**tout of Goldi as we speak. I told Skydrifter to start a thread about it on TOS3. If someone has a TOS2 ID they should go over and post an invite.

Somewhat related, about a week ago a site called cryptome.org was hassled by Homeland Security. NPR actually reported that Homeland Security shutdown it down, but it wasn't quite; yet.

Neil, what is with the Date thingie?
When i created a post, the date of the article was 23 january 2005, and I typed that in.
The software had a hissy fit! Said I had a problem in the date field. So I lamented to Robin about it and she suggested just going to to the way it was.
The pulldown menu on the date had nothing in what would appear to be a place for the MONTH.
And as for the category thing.........that threw me as well when it said it couldn't figure out a category and that I would have to use my best judgement! Hello! I was using the software's pulldown menu to pick a category--and the software wanted me to come up with something better?
Maybe it was just a compounded problem...I kept receiveing just the PREVIEW BUTTON and not a POST IT button until I went back to the original date.
Does this mean that articles with dates other than the current date will be mis- dated?

The date bug has been fixed. Thanks for the heads up.
Auto categorization is always there to tell you if it can't categorize, and right now it can't categorize anything because there are no keywords entered with the categories. The implication in the case where it can't categorize is only that it cannot help. If it can make a recommendation and you choose semething different, it will let you but the message is a bit stronger.

Well, other than owning a Fender Bassman 50 tube amplifier, which requires tweaking to keep alive, I never have built my own amp. I love tinkering with stuff, though, so I'd probably enjoy it. I have several antique clocks I've restored at various levels. Midnight and noon is a real blast around here, because I don't like things that don't work. The clocks must be running, and running accurately. I can sleep right thru the noise now, but I've had guests ask it we could at least turn off the cuckoo clock at night.
As far as projects go, my first big one will be to refinish my great grandfather's old violin (yeah, I know, you should never do that, but this thing hung out on a porch in east texas for 40 years, then somebody literally brush painted it w/ red barn paint), so i stripped it.
Beautiful wood, scratched into the wood was "Knxvill Tenn, 1871".
I'm trying to figure out what to put back on that to get it playable.
But yeah, in general, I love taking things apart.

Eventtually, I'd like to try to build 1966 a black face bassman. You can get the schematics and chassis layout off the internet. Apparently all the parts are available. The thing is all point to point wiring inside.
Everyone who knows anything about it however has told me to build the simple one first. Apparently, the real trick is to get the hum and distortion tuned out once you get it wired up. They tell me the multistage bassman would just get away from a newbie like me.

I met a lot of guys like badeye back in Newport Beach California. I think it's the working wife/rich daddy businessman syndrome.
There were a lot of guys there jsut playing office. Basically managing their trust funds or running errands for the working wife. They would actually rent offices and set up business accounts with names like "American Trust and Investments" or "State of California Investigation and Anti-Terrorist Unit". They would then hang out in the office with their buddies and hire cute secretaries at minimum wage. I was in my early thirties at the time and knew women who made a career out of working for these types.
They never really did business, but the wives/daddys forked over money to pay the office rents and phones. This kept the guys from feeling like losers and the wife/daddy could console themselves with the hope that their loser son/husband just needed time to build up his business. There are whole office comlexes in Orange County that cater to these types.
From what I have seen of badeye over the years, this is what I suspect he is. Nobody can do anything worth while wasting as much prime business time as he does. It's simply not possible to be that unfocused and still accomplish anything worthwhile.

If we can start talking past the talking points and get down to what is important, we have a chance to forge a real democracy. I mean, how weird is it that liberals like me are the deficit hawks? I always have been one, but it was not a hallmark of the Dem party or the liberal mindset. Now it is.
As usual, I will ramble and free associate. This weekend, NPR here in Chicago had a series of specials about the death of Cabrini Green, the largest public housing project in the country. It has been shut down in stages, torn down and replaced with mixed low-rise townhouse villages, where the wealthy pay $350K for a unit, and the poor pay a prorated rent or can buy for a lot less on very favorable terms. So far it is working, and they shut down the last big buildings this weekend.
In 1955, huge public housing sounded like a good idea to liberals. It turned out to be a very bad one. It was better than what was going on then, and the city sold the world on it with an ad campaign that contrasted the ghetto that was there at the time to nice clean public housing. Well, it was better, but not much. Europe was doing the same thing, calling them council estates, at the time. Clockwork Orange was a prediction of what would happen, and it was accurate, but if anything, too optimistic. When the Sex Pistols sneered "just another council tenancy" in No Future, they were referring to the warehousing of the marginalized disguised as compassion.
That's my longwinded way of saying that some liberal ideas look GREAT on paper, and suck in real life. The job of conservatives is, IMO, to say, yeah, that sounds nice, but society can afford JUST SO MUCH. They act as brakes on the bad ideas for change and force a debate. And liberals force bad conditions to change. It's a healthy thing.
The Neocons are a new phenomenon. They're the most deluded, stars in their eyes, hippy-dippy, peacenlove idiots ever. Starshine and Uncle Truckin's dream of having, like, man, a COMMUNITY in the Maine woods where everyone would do, like, what they wanted, sounds more mature and sensible than delivering democracy like Domino's, only with a bunkerbuster bomb.
I was in grad school with some of these nuts. A couple are in the administration now, in lowly positions, but they make good money. They were fairly normal until they got into grad school, at which point they developed delusions of grandeur, suddenly realizing they were great thinkers. They were not, and their professors told them so, but they started taking over classes. It was like an infection. Pretty soon a friend of mine would start calling me naive. These people were marginal liberals, not activist or anything, but traditionally liberal. And suddenly it was like The Night of the Living Dead. Neoconism is a very seductive philosophy; boiled down, it says you can do good by doing bad. These are people who think saving a village by destroying it makes sense.
The thing I noticed most, though, was how they started saying "grow up." They wanted to be taken seriously, they lost all sense of humor, they suddenly had a mission. The same thing happened to a close friend who is now high up in the Moonies. There has to be a cause greater than all of us for them and if we don't sign on, we're frivolous. Remember the buttholes in the Bushie wing saying, "the adults are in charge"?
These are very dangerous people. They cannot think for a second they might be wrong. They never debate. They scream, they deliver ludicrous talking points without a blink, they change language to mean what they want it to mean, they will do anything to win.
Underlying it is a sense of narcissism. They are all very mediocre people. There is not one truly bright person among them. Ever notice how Condi demands to be called Dr. Rice? How Smirk demands to be called Mr. President? Condi is a mediocrity and Smirk is less than that. Anyone who hangs out at a university long enough and sucks up to the neocon PoliSci profs (yes, that was my major) can get a doctorate. The one guy they had who was truly intelligent was Paul O'Neill. He was spacy, but bright. And look what happened to him. Christie Whitman, despite my dislike of her, was pretty bright too, but she is long gone and her new book is going to kick their ass.
What's surprising is that even the mediocrities, like Ridge and Lindsey and Veneman, have all been thrown overboard too. This gang needs TOTAL loyalty and they were losing it among their functionaries, so they got a whole new crew who had not been around to see them make sausage.
My prediction is, it will not work, they will implode and people like Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch are going to get together and say, OK, we don't agree, but we, unlike them, have the best interests of the country in mind. Let's work it out, get someone in office and start working together more.
I have no idea how to get out of Iraq, but we have to. I have no idea how to cure the health system, but we have to. I have no idea how to repair our image worldwide, but we have to. I have no idea how we can repair this economy, but we have to.
So I am happy to have this site, and we have to make sure that scum like Badeye are banned instantly when they turn discussion into partisan flame war.

lol - i'm a longtime liberal too - i think most of the people here know that. how funny, maybe w really is a uniter, except i don't think the intention was to unite people against him. i've never been a supporter of big government. i do believe in helping people, but helping them get on their feet, not carrying them forever. you know, teaching a man to fish, that sort of thing.
i like it here cause i feel like if i hang out somewhere like du, i'm not gonna get any fresh perspective. i like finding things in common with people who haven't shared my ideology for years and years.
i agree with you about all the things we absolutely have to do, but have no idea how to do. the first step is identifying the problem, right? second step is shedding the labels and realizing we're all in this together. if liberals and true conservatives can find common goals, we may just make the people currently in power irrelevant. and that would be cool.

Be sure to check out the reconditioned lap top stores in your area. Like Mr. Laptop in San Antonio. I picked up a really great reconditioned IBM Think Pad for $350. After I bought a huge ram for it it ran great. The internal wifi radio is better than any of the desk top stuff I've ever bought.

I recently purchased a laptop for travel. And, I got my daughter one as a Christmas gift. Do make sure you get a wi-fi ready laptop as they are so easy to use for a connection. My daughter is "borrowing" the signal from a neighbor which is quite the thrifty thing to do. LOL

No special software if you are using XP. I'm not sure about earlier Windows versions. As for catching connections on the skip, you can find free "Hot Spots" by doing a google search using "free hot spots", or I hear this a small portable device (about the size of a pen" that will tell you when you are in range of a signal and the newer ones will even tell you which signals are "open" with no need for a password.

it's going to change again shortly. we're using the name Freedom4um (Arator's idea) as the main name and keeping TOS4 as a subforum. the colors and style will remain the same.
doesn't it have a welcoming, friendly feel about it? maybe it will set a tone/mood that will discourage interforum disputes? ;);)
