For the second time in less than a week, a San Luis Obispo church is the victim of a hate crime. A sign at the United Church of Christ on Los Osos Valley Road proclaiming the church accepts all people was first vandalized on Sunday when someone removed the lighting for the sign.
Then, Thursday night someone torched the sign, causing the front and back of the sign to melt.
Both incidents are being classified as hates crimes by the police.
The pastor says the congregation raised $5,000 for the sign. They plan to repair it.
Here is a description of the suspect:
* White male with red hair.
* Police say has a transient appearance.
