CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- More members of Gold Star Families for Peace (GSFP) and Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) are traveling to Texas to join the protest outside of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he is vacationing for the month of August.

Starting today, Gold Star families from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arkansas and other states whose loved ones have died as a result of the war in Iraq will be joining one of their members, Cindy Sheehan, at the protest. Ms. Sheehan, whose son Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Sadr City, Iraq on April 4, 2004, has been in Crawford since August 5th, demanding a meeting with the President. These families will be joined by military families with loved ones currently serving in Iraq or about to deploy or redeploy to Iraq. All of these families are coming to Crawford, Texas to share their stories about the personal costs of the war in Iraq and add their voices to the call for a meeting with President Bush.

On August 3, 2005 President Bush, speaking about the dreadful loss of life in Iraq in early August, said "We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission... The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause." Gold Star and military families coming to Crawford know that the cause was not noble; that their loved ones died, or are currently in harm's way, serving in a war based on lies.

In the first 8 days of August, 36 service members died in Iraq; countless Iraq children, women and men are dying each day. All of the families traveling to Crawford will carry the message to the vacationing President: Honor our fallen and honor our loved ones' service by ending the occupation, bringing the troops home now and taking care of them when they get here.

President Bush has consistently tried to hide, and to hide from, the cost of the war in Iraq. This August, these costs are being brought right to his doorstep.

Members of Gold Star Families for Peace and Military Families Speak Out who are traveling to Crawford will be available for interview beginning on Tuesday afternoon August 9th.

I wonder how Bush will get the news cameras out of the way before he has Cindy arrested.

I've already said too much.

Someone needs to go post this on LP so we can watch Badeye, WhiteSands and the rest of the crew foam and spew hate and venom.

They hid the agonizing photos of their deaths, they hid the returning coffins, they hid the photos of the numb and silently weeping loved ones, but the shock is wearing off. They cannot hide from these families anymore.

One if by land, two if by sea...how many if they are already here?

I am thinking there must be a lot of support for Sheehan in her son's old unit. If there wasn't, Rove and Bush would have Swiftboat shill from the unit spewing talking points on Fox News as we speak. I think it's pretty telling that they can't flush out a mouthpiece for their propaganda.

Cindy Warms Up At Veterans' Convention Before Crawford

By Mike Ferner

"That lying bastard, George Bush, is taking a five-week vacation in time of war," Cindy Sheehan told 200 cheering members of Veterans For Peace at their annual convention in Dallas last Friday evening. She then announced she would go to Bush's vacation home in nearby Crawford, Texas and camp out until he "tells me why my son died in Iraq. I've got the whole month of August off, and so does he."

Sheehan left the VFP meeting on Saturday morning and is now in Crawford with a couple dozen veterans and local peace activists, waiting for Bush to talk with her. She said in Dallas that if he sends anyone else to see her, as happened when national security adviser Steve Hadley and deputy White House chief of staff Joe Hagin did later that day, she would demand that "You get that maniac out here to talk with me in person."

She told the audience of veterans from World War Two to today's war in Iraq, that the two main things she plans to tell the man she holds responsible for son Casey's death are "Quit saying that U.S. troops died for a noble cause in Iraq, unless you say, 'well, except for Casey Sheehan.' Don't you dare spill any more blood in Casey's name. You do not have permission to use my son's name."

"And the other thing I want him to tell me is 'just what was the noble cause Casey died for?' Was it freedom and democracy? Bullshit! He died for oil. He died to make your friends richer. He died to expand American imperialism in the Middle East. We're not freer here, thanks to your PATRIOT Act. Iraq is not free. You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism," she exclaimed.

"There, I used the 'I' word -- imperialism," the 48 year-old mother quipped. "And now I'm going to use another 'I' word -- impeachment -- because we cannot have these people pardoned. They need to be tried on war crimes and go to jail."

As the veterans in Dallas rose to their feet, Sheehan said defiantly, "My son was killed in 2004. I am not paying my taxes for 2004. You killed my son, George Bush, and I don't owe you a penny...you give my son back and I'll pay my taxes. Come after me (for back taxes) and we'll put this war on trial."

The co-founder of Gold Star Mothers for Peace objected to hearing that her son was among the soldiers lost in Iraq. "He's not lost," she said tearfully. "He's dead. He became an angel while I was sleeping."

She railed against the notion expressed by officials in the Bush administration that bringing the troops home now would dishonor the sacrifice of those who have died. "By sending honorable people to die, they so dishonor themselves. They say we must complete our mission...but why would I want one more mother to go through what I have, just because my son is dead?"

The Vacaville, California resident said she first heard of Veterans For Peace in early May last year, during a CNN report about an exhibit of white crosses arranged in rows in the Santa Barbara beach. The exhibit was organized by VFP Chapter 54 to memorialize each U.S. soldier killed in Iraq. Her son had died the month before. "I decided there was only one place I wanted to be on Mother's Day that year, and it was Santa Barbara," she told the VFP members in Dallas.

Retired Special Forces Sgt. and VFP member, Stan Goff, today initiated a "Talk to Cindy" campaign to get Bush to meet with Sheehan. Contact information for the White House is: (202) 456-1111 or comments@whitehouse.gov

I hope some other families show up to support her.

This could be similar to the moment when the Viet Nam vets started tossing their medals back. Here the "Bots" of the time finally admitted they were outed. People saw through their bullshit. The beer drinking arm chair warriors quit mumbling about the war protecting us from communism and took the new talking point of "My country right or wrong", i.e., I still support the war even though I am forced to admit that the war might not be right or proper.

I think we will soon see a similar last stand by the badeye types:

"Yes, Bush lied, but he had to!!"

"Questioning whether the war is a mistake or not is pointless, we have no choice but to finish!!"

"Clinton would have caused an even bigger mess"

etc.

No, I mean a new swiftboat vet.

Someone from the unit who will stand up and read RNC talking points without any regards to what really happened.

The only reason I can see for Bush and Rove not using this tactic is that the RNC can't find anyone with the proper credentials to mouth fibs for the benefit of Bush. This seems to indicate support for Sheehan in the unit.

The Swiftboat vets got around this by using shills who could only prove they were in the same general area as Kerry at approximately the right time. Bush might have to use the same type of shill here to discredit Sheehan. I would take this as confirmation of my theory.

Speaking of shameless and silly propaganda, where does Happy Fun Ball dig up all the obscure one man blogs that publish the pro-Bush propaganda he posts over on LP?

Every article he posts seems to come from a different propagada blog and I've never seen him publish anything - anything at all - from a reputable source.

The stuff he posts all comes sites like "One legged Wingnut Foamers for Bush" or "Arkansas Deep Sea Fishing and Bush Boosting Federation".

I suspect that he just writes all the crap himself and then posts it on one of his own (numerous) blogs.

Catch this...

I was listening to Air America and a caller said the ptb at Ft Hood are giving many members of the service off this weekend to counter demonstrate at the location CS is at.

So, Bush is about to give us the spectacle of active military members demonstrating against the mother of a dead member. And during all this, Bush remains hidden.

I hope this starts a ripple.

Why you should shop at Wal-Mart

One day, in line at the company cafeteria, Joe says to Mike behind him, "My elbow hurts like hell. I guess I better see a doctor."

"Listen, you don't have to spend that kind of money," Mike replies. "There's a diagnostic computer down at Wal-Mart. Just give it a urine sample and the computer will tell you what's wrong and what to do about it. It takes ten seconds and costs ten dollars... a lot cheaper than a doctor."

So Joe deposits a urine sample in a small jar and takes it to Wal-Mart. He deposits ten dollars, and the computer lights up and asks for the urine sample. He pours the sample into the slot and waits. Ten seconds later, the computer ejects a printout:

"You have tennis elbow. Soak your arm in warm water and avoid heavy activity. It will improve in two weeks. Thank you for shopping @ Wal-Mart."

That evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was, Joe began wondering if the computer could be fooled. He mixed some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and a sperm sample for good measure.

Joe hurries back to Wal-Mart, eager to check the results. He deposits ten dollars, pours in his concoction, and awaits the results. The computer prints the following:

1. Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener.

2. Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo.

3. Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab.

4. Your wife is pregnant. Twins. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer.

5. If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better.

Thank you for shopping @ Wal-Mart!!!

Today on LP Happy Fun Ball posted FOUR anti-Sheehan hate articles from obscure blogs. Badeye jumped in on cue. Their morning effort seems to be frantically spinning away the Sheehan matter. It looks like Sheehan is hitting a nerve. It seems these guys would be putting their effort into derailing the growing opposition to Bush's attack on Iran if they didn't consider Sheehan to be important.

They are having some real bad luck. It hasn't really rained there for three months. It just started raining last week and apparently it's been dumping ever since.

The people there can get really ugly. I remember when Natalie Mains (sp) of the Dixie Chicks made her anti war comment. She lives up near Welfare and our family owns a restaurant nearby. Every night for a month my relative had to kick people out of the bar for plotting to kill Mains as she left her ranch. Most were just ignorant drunk goober Freeper types who would never actually do anything, but I was told that their talk so poisoned the atmosphere that business was dropping off.

Again, I did tons of interviews. It looks like I will be on the cover of People Magazine. Time Magazine, Vanity Fair and Oprah's magazine will be interviewing me also.

It was great having the other GSFP and MFSO there to help me with interviews and greeting all of the hundreds of people who came out from all over the country to be with us today. We were hassled by the Sheriff because there were too many cars out there. Our little Bush Town has grown to full capacity. The town Sheriff said we can put up tents and RV's in the town stadium. There are wall to wall sleeping bags here at the Peace House.

Due to the generosity of you all, the Crawford Peace House has gotten over 30,000 dollars and GSFP has gotten a lot of donations too. I got about 2 and a half dozen bouquets of flowers from all over everywhere. I am so amazed and overwhelmed by the support and love we are getting from everywhere.

As for Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Matt Drudge, etc...nothing you can say can hurt me or make me stop what we are doing. We are working for peace with justice. We are using peaceful means and the truth to do it. I guess the truth frightens people. It frightens them so much, they have to resort to telling lies to rebut my arguments. They are despicable human beings and not even worth our concern.

What is of concern is that those sick puppies are in high and visible positions of propaganda power.

What is it now? 65% of Americans disapprove of Bush and/or the Iraq War WHILE seemingly 99% OF THE FEDERAL MEDIA approve of Bush and the Iraq War.

WHERE IN THE HELL ARE THE COMMENTATORS/TALKING HEADS IN THE FEDERAL MEDIA WHO ARTICULATELY AND ROUTININELY PRESENT THE VIEWS OF 65% OF AMERICA???????
