Dispatch from Camp Casey, Crawford TX by outragemeter [Subscribe] Wed Aug 10th, 2005 at 20:14:09 PDT

I'm here in Crawford, with Cindy Sheehan and a few hundred of her closest friends! Folks are still arriving, and many are calling to say they are on the way. Tomorrow is going to be huge!

The conditions are horrid. The site is extremely cramped, to say the least. All the tents, cars, chairs, tables, etc, are in a shallow ditch lining the road. Lots of volunteers are coming forward to organize, cook, monitor, etc. It's a spontaneous community that is beautiful to see and experience. I'm so glad I came.

There is a press conference set for 11 am local time. Bushco has one set for 1pm, so should be interesting. Those here note the rumors of potential arrest tonight, as well as of the intentions of Rep. Waters, Jesse Jackson and others. But the focus is being put on the military families that are here, as it should be.

The Crawford Peace House is the hub of everything and they are doing an outstanding job (including the generous lending of a laptop and connection so I could post this). They need your support so they can continue to fill the growing needs of the demonstrators. Wire them money, bring cash, click paypal, in that order, as you can. For supplies, water, veggies, plastic sheeting and other waterproofing coverings.

Then I'd say contact every official you can think of and say "Meet with Cindy." This will help keep her safe and reduce the chance they will do anything stupid like arrest her. CodePink is also here and playing a strong supporting role. Send support through them as well.

Pressure the media to cover this. They have no excuse not to be at the press conference tomorrow, let them know that you expect coverage of this important event.

Also, I've taken a ton of pictures, but have no USB cable right now to upload them. So that will have to wait. Hopefully my sad old camera will hold out through another exciting event!

One tough Mom any son could be proud of IMHO.

"WE ARE INSULTED when people like Bush say that America has to 'stay the course' in Iraq to 'honor our children's sacrifices.' Not one more drop of blood should be shed for the lies and deceptions." - Cindy Sheehan, mother of Casey Sheehan, KIA 04/04/04

She is tough. That's from her website http://www.MeetWithCindy.org.

One if by land, two if by sea...how many if they are already here?

I would be honored to have her as my mother. And should her son work through us (those of like mind) should the PTB (bastards) do anything to her.
