WICHITA, Kansas (AP)- Media reports say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church.

Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortion. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades.

He was acquitted in March of misdemeanor charges stemming from procedures he performed, but moments after the verdict the state's medical board announced it was investigating allegations against him that are nearly identical to those the jury had rejected.

Prosecutors had alleged that Tiller had in 2003 gotten second opinions from a doctor who was essentially an employee of his, not independent as state law requires, but a jury took only about an hour to find him not guilty of all 19 counts.

Tiller, who could have faced a year in jail for even one conviction, stared straight ahead as the verdicts were read, with one of his attorneys patting his shoulder after the decision on the final count was declared. His wife, seated across the courtroom, fought back tears and nodded. The couple declined to speak to reporters afterward.

Tiller, 67, has claimed that the prosecution was politically motivated. An attorney general who opposed abortion rights began the investigation into Tiller's clinic more than four years ago, but both his successor, who filed the criminal charges, and the current attorney general support abortion rights.

Tiller has been a favored target of anti-abortion protesters, and he testified that he and his family have suffered years of harassment and threats. His clinic was the site of the 1991 "Summer of Mercy" protests marked by mass demonstrations and arrests. His clinic was bombed in 1985, and an abortion opponent shot him in both arms in 1993.

So you believe that the best way to deal with someone you dislike is to murder them in cold blood, in a church no less. Imagine my surprise. You are cheering cold-blooded murder, committed in a house of God. Just mind-boggling.

So you disagree with what the victim in this murder did. Fine. Whatever happened to "hate the sin, but love the sinner"? Whatever happened to the idea that you don't become what you hate while fighting that which you hate? Whatever happened to having reverence for a holy place? Nope, you cheer on the killer and claim they are "a certified American Hero". How horribly twisted.

You my friend (and I use that word loosely) are unamazingly stupid. I don't think murdering someone I disagree with is ok. That piece of shit has murdered over a thousand babies. Probably thousands. So I am quite content that the "man" is dead. You and your valuelessness and moraleless mind of stupidity don't seem capable of understanding that when you take someones innocent life that it is yours that needs to be forfeitted.

Your desire to make light of the crimes of a serial murderer and to stick up for him is breathtakingly evil. In your twisted soul you think that good people have to sit back and let the innocent be killed. You are a face of evil.

So the way to show that a murderer is wrong is to murder him. Brilliant. Now the person who killed him in cold blood in a church is himself a murderer. Where does it end?

You are so twisted up with hate and venom, all the while claiming to be a "good Christian". I pity you, I really do. If you're one of the "good guys" I'd really prefer to not see what a "bad guy" looks like.

It is not murder when you kill the guilty. It is called frontier justice. It is what happens when the government doesn't live up to its responsibility.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't you one of those hypocrits that are for letting people who murder babies get away with it but you are against the death penalty for people who kill adults. If i am correct. That would make you a sicko.

Do you ever tire of calling people names? Do you ever grow weary of digging in your little box of venomous replies and finding labels you can stick on people? Do you ever find yourself confronting even the tiniest doubt that maybe, just maybe, you are not always right about everything and that maybe, just maybe you could possibly be wrong about something, anything, ever?

Your anger and venom are frightening enough. Your bottomless certainty about the righteousness of your moral proclamations is positively terrifying. And through all of this you proclaim yourself to be a "Christian". Amazing.

Putting labels on everyone and everything is easy, yes. It's convenient, it's handy, it's popular and often a crowd-pleaser. It's comforting to be able to take everything and slap a label on it, and then stuff it into a handy box labeled "bad". It's reflexive, it's visceral, it feels good. It makes a great substitute for actual thinking. And it does nothing to further understanding, does nothing to help solve anything. It just serves to fuel the fires of anger and retribution.

Well, no worries. The way this society and this economy are going, I think you and everyone like you will soon find themselves having all the anger and violence and retribution and hate and malice and death and destruction you can eat. I hope you get a bellyfull of it.

With your own words you condemn yourself.

For the record, I do believe in God. I don't believe in religion. Mainly because of what it does to people like you.

If you deny christ you don't believ in God. You have made your own custom god to suit your needs.

Health Ministry: 20,000 legal abortions performed in Israel annually By Dana Weiler-Polak

2007. Last year, 4,799 of the abortions in Israel were by means of Mifegyn, which can be taken up to the seventh week of pregnancy.

The World Health Organization has ranked Israel 21 out of 22 European countries in terms of the ratio of abortions to births. Russia was ranked first, with 1,022.4 abortions per 1,000 births, and second is Romania, with 684.6 abortions.

In 2007, 20,919 women requested abortions from the hospital committees working under the Health Ministry's aegis. The committee approved 98 percent of the requests. Of the approved requests in 2007, 55 percent were from women who were pregnant as a result of illegal sexual relations, incest, for example, or were unmarried. Another 18 percent were approved because of concerns for the mother's physical or mental health; 18 percent because of birth defects; and 9 percent due to the age of the woman, either under 17 or over 40. In 2007, 245 pregnancies that were ended were late terminations, and half of all abortions were between the 24th and 26th week.
