WICHITA, Kansas (AP)- Media reports say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church. Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortion. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades. He was acquitted in March of misdemeanor charges stemming from procedures he performed, but moments after the verdict the state's medical board announced it was investigating allegations against him that are nearly identical to those the jury had rejected. Prosecutors had alleged that Tiller had in 2003 gotten second opinions from a doctor who was essentially an employee of his, not independent as state law requires, but a jury took only about an hour to find him not guilty of all 19 counts. Tiller, who could have faced a year in jail for even one conviction, stared straight ahead as the verdicts were read, with one of his attorneys patting his shoulder after the decision on the final count was declared. His wife, seated across the courtroom, fought back tears and nodded. The couple declined to speak to reporters afterward. Tiller, 67, has claimed that the prosecution was politically motivated. An attorney general who opposed abortion rights began the investigation into Tiller's clinic more than four years ago, but both his successor, who filed the criminal charges, and the current attorney general support abortion rights. Tiller has been a favored target of anti-abortion protesters, and he testified that he and his family have suffered years of harassment and threats. His clinic was the site of the 1991 "Summer of Mercy" protests marked by mass demonstrations and arrests. His clinic was bombed in 1985, and an abortion opponent shot him in both arms in 1993.

It's reflexive, it's visceral, it feels good. It makes a great substitute for actual thinking. And it does nothing to further understanding, does nothing to help solve anything. It just serves to fuel the fires of anger and retribution. Well, no worries. The way this society and this economy are going, I think you and everyone like you will soon find themselves having all the anger and violence and retribution and hate and malice and death and destruction you can eat. I hope you get a bellyfull of it.

I find myself in the rather uncomfortable position of agreeing with you, partially. If you beat your dog you will get more grief from the "justice" system than he ever got. It takes a special kind of cold blooded depravity to either 1) pull the baby out, breech style, where only the head is in the vagina, stick a cannula into his or her skull and suck the brains out, or 2) rip a baby to shreds and vacuum out the pieces, or 3) burn that baby alive with strong saline solution. Did he use one "procedure", or all of them? What the "hell" kind of "man" does things like that, and still goes to church? Is the church that depraved that they want someone like that in there? What good did it do him? What the "hell" kind of sermons did they teach? Good riddance to a cold blooded murderer. I'm not so sure this excuses the man that murdered him, but I won't shed any tears for Tiller. .
Tiller was nothing more then a cold blooded killer.
