Im sure that by now, most everyone has heard about the shooting at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. Interestingly enough, though, this terrible act of hatred has spurred even more hateful behavior that underscores the fact that there is an awful lot of anger out there, and it seems to be aimed primarily at the right-wing extremists.
Now I have stated in the past that I think the right-wing ought to chill out for a little while so that the Republican Party can do some damage control and find its center again. But I hardly think it is accurate to blame the right wing for the clearly insane actions of a homicidal maniac. Granted, some of those who reside on the far, far right say some nasty things sometimes, but the left isnt any better. This is the typical knee-jerk reaction of all liberals these days: to blame anything and everything bad in the world on the right-wing.
Explain to me how it is that the actions of an anti-Christian, neo-Nazi who hated just about everyone to include President Bush can be blamed on right-wing rhetoric? Especially since his family has admitted that he has been this way all his adult life. And for that matter, the left is guilty of some hate speak of their own. It makes my head spin when I try to keep up with all the name calling and finger-pointing.
For example, Ed Schultz from MSNBC stated recently that he would urinate on Hugh Hewitt (conservative radio host), because thats all hes worth. Come on now, is that nice? And Chris Matthews called the Holocaust Memorial Museum shooting a political action by a far right extremist. Huh? Far-right? The man hated Christians, and I think its safe to say that pretty much everyone on the right considers themselves a Christian. So he clearly wasnt a far right extremist Mr. Matthews. And it wasnt a political statement either. He was just crazy.
In the same interview that spurred the Matthews comment, Joan Walsh from Salon.com commented on the rising climate of right wing hate when discussing both the museum shooting and the killing of Dr. Tiller. I have to say, it is disturbing that the leftist liberal press can get away with blaming two insane acts by mentally unbalanced individuals on the right wing. In doing so, the left is clearly engaging in hateful rhetoric of their own. And unlike the two recent killings, which were done by individuals who neither stated a right-wing political agenda nor identified with any right-wing group, the hatred toward all things conservative comes directly from the liberal camp. Well, you know what they say, when you point a finger at someone there are three pointing back at you.
