A well-known science-fiction writer I know, who will remain nameless, told me that I was "a gentleman and a barbarian, but you already knew that."

I never thought it that way, but he's right.

I told him it came from reading all of Edgar Rice Burroughs' books when I was 11 and 12. Or maybe it's because I'm descended from all those brutish Scots-Irish Borderers.

Great scene by Daniel Day-Lewis.

When I saw that film with my wife, I said to her, "There's Bush." She got upset.

I see things differently now. So does she.

Bush was and is a twat.

The Day-Lewis character is a man.

He really isn't all that amphibian/reptilian monster you have excited him about to be. Nope. He is much more. He a self-aggrandizing bull-shitter.

Such ashame as he has no Internet etiquette or manners other than a mirror it wears in front of it's face 24/7/365 presenting itself as though anyone gives a damn.

You do not wear a cockle of your own mind wrapped upped in a looking glass reflecting upon your image time after time like Mr. turtle. You actually make sense on your posts and have capability to convince others about your viewpoint.

Mr. turtle has no capability other its looking glass as it shines its hardback shell looking pretty for others.

I do hope that in "tongue in cheek" caustic sarcasm. If it is, right on.

If for real, well now, even Turtle does have a some redeeming social value, trivial as it may be.

Well, that is something I would not use, but then, I am rather olde, staid, stiff upper lipped, starched collar, puritanical etc etc. All of which is passe in the current age.

As for Mr. Turtle, he has a habit of wearing on people after a fashion, you come to like him a little, regardless of his crass behavior. Some people do not realize that Turtle most of the time is HIDING something from public view.

Turtle has a great intellect, matched by few here on the forum, he is intelligent, educated and awash in humor, a humor that he uses to poke sticks at many of us. When he wants to, he is a very good writer to boot.

I see your point.

It is genuinely reflected in his Turtle threads such as, Turtles doggies, Turtles trucks, Turtles babes, Turtles loves, Turtles philosophy, Turtles new chrome rims and Turtles lawnmower chores when the wife kicks his ass when the lawn is 20" high.

Very stimulating and intellectual threads. BTW, did you receive a high school diploma?

Well that is a happy image at least to some.

Maybe "bouncing fertility chest masses" would be less offensive, but that is not nearly as titillating.

Ok.. color me baffled,, but do posters "really" have an issue w/turtle?

Truth is Treason in the Empire of Lies

"Don't Tread on Me", originally a war cry of Benjamin Franklin during America's fight for independence, has come to symbolize the American spirit. It first appeared on the Gadsen flag (named for and by General Christopher Gadsen) which featured the slogan below a coiled rattlesnake that was ready to attack. The snake (along with the slogan) came to symbolize America as an animal that would never strike first, but when provoked, would never give in. Today, it also symbolizes and celebrates personal independence and perseverance.

Not for me. Sure, he's a bit full of himself, but he has a sense of humor and is generally inoffensive. Unlike SOME posters here who go out of their way to be confrontational, rude and obnoxious, Turtle is merely grandiose and beset with delusions of grandeur. But he shares them in rather entertaining ways, so what the heck. He's like the "local color" of 4um. All in all, we're better off with him than without him.

Mr. turtle has no talent other than he is a mirror, as he reflects rather than radiates, even his hardback shell looks pretty to some rubes.

You forgot that his pug ate a worm

He ate a bird, a dead bird.

I was walking him, and he stuck his nose in a bush, and when he backed out he had a bird in his mouth. It was barely alive, and he tried to eat it, but I put it back in the bushes.

A few days later, he found a dead one, and before I could do anything, he gulped it down,

I told one of the many gurls I know about it, and she told me in New Zealand, where she went to college, if they find a wounded bird, they'll put it in the freezer and it just goes to sleep quickly. I told her I never thought about that. Americans usually just kill things quickly.

When I was 15 I found a mouse in a trap in the house. He was still alive. So I took him outside and hit him with a board. It would have been easier just to put him in the fridge.

When my first pug got sick I took him down by the roadroad tracks because I was going to shoot him. I figured since I raised him from a 10-week-old puppy, I owerd him that. But darn if I couldn't do it. So I took him to a vet and he gave him a shot.

When I was 12 I found a kitten hit by a car. He had crawled to the side of the toad and meowed at me when I walked by. So I took him home but he didn't last the night. I would have put him in the fridge if I had thought about it.
