I drove a taxi for five yeats. I was only going to do it for a few months, but the money was so good and the rides so fascinating I just stayed. I once picked up an olde guy, maybe 75, from the hospital. He asked me if he could smoke, I said sure, I don't care.
He lighted a cigarette, took a long drag, then informed me the doc had just told him he had lung cancer, but he was going to hang around so he could "torment the old lady,:
I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing. Lung cancer and was not going to stop smoking.
I was reminde of this when an ex-girlfriend recently told me one of her friends was just diagnosed with lung cancer -- after chain-smoking for 30 years -- and she's Stage 4. She has no intention of quitting smoking, either.
Tobaccy is one powerful drug.
