Title: Hand-rolled tobacco should be taxed in the same way as manufactured cigarettes

Hand-rolled cigarettes are as dangerous to health as manufactured cigarettes. There is even some evidence that they are more damaging to health, as they contain more tar and nicotine and smokers use less filters. Unless taxes, and thus prices, are brought into line, there is a real incentive for smokers to switch to hand-rolling cigarettes rather than cut down or quit (4).

In all European countries except Ireland and the UK, hand-rolling tobacco is taxed at a lower level and in some cases at a much lower level than manufactured cigarettes. A major effort should be made to increase taxes on RYO tobacco to at least the same level as, or higher than those on manufactured cigarettes (4).

See the entire work of Communist thought at the link. We always knew this is how the Communists worked. We've seen this before from the likes of the leftists in the US - they call themselves dems usually. All of this has come to pass. This is from 1995.

You may only do what we say you can do. If you are doing something we can't outright make illegal, we'll tax the s**t out of you to change your behavior. We do not believe in Freedom. You are under our control. (We also make up our own "science" to fit our agenda.)

That's the long, and the short of it in a nutshell.

This basically reveals their agenda, their lack of scientific data, and their psychoses.

Basically tobacco taxes are about control i.e., one group using tax laws to punish others for behavior which they individually disapprove of.

While I won't defend smoking as healthful, although much to the dismay of the anti-smoking Nazis there are some benefits to counteract the ill affects, but their case is unsupported i.e., "Hand-rolled cigarettes are as dangerous to health as manufactured cigarettes.". There is no evidence to support that contention, in fact the exact opposite is the case and there is evidence to support that. The chemicals added to manufactured cigarettes include known carcinogens and there is even evidence to support the contention that filters themselves, at least the ones in common use, are a carcinogen and/or damage the lungs. Most filters, except some of the better ryo filters and tubes that use cottor, are made of cellulose fiber - which gives off microparticles that embed in the lung wall - and do not break down thus a smoker of filtered cigarettes is building up a greater and greater load of cellulose fiber in their lungs over time. At one point in time "Kent" cigarettes used their famous "Micronite" Filter which was made out of asbestos.

Like the anti-gun lobby the anti-smoking zealot lobby, while claiming the other side is deceptive, uses false and/or fudged data to create the illusion of a fact based argument for controlling other people's behavior. I do note that they have backed off a bit on the addictive end of the argument since people can and do quit when they really want to. The fact that they do not wish to acknowledge is that a good many people enjoy smoking, and that just burns them up.

The anti-smoking zealots remind me of H. L. Mencken's definition of Puritanism: "The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, might be happy."

"I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is Mass Psychology...It's importance has been enormously increased by the growth of modern methods of propaganda...Although this science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions were generated." Bertrand Russel, Eugenicist and Logician

Looks like we are all basically on the same wavelength.

The anti-smoking nuts are just that "nuts" who wish to tax law as a way to CONTROL the actions and behavior of other people.

What they are is petty neurotic tyrants without the intellectual honesty or integrity to admit that is what they are doing. It is all clothed in faux science with unsupported assumptions, misleading data, and misleading dishonest conclusions drawn from their fake data.

While there is an argument to made that smoking is not a healthful habit the apparent and actual motivation of these neurotic busybodies is to enforce their personal preferences upon others by using punitive taxation. That is not the hallmark of a free society.

~ there is also evidence that smokers get fewer chemical additives by rolling thier own using higher quality tobaco producing cigarettes that they are not inclined to smoke so many of ~

a 1 pound bag of this tobacco incresed in price by $10 here in central Oklahoma the day they raised the cost of a carton of manufactured cigarettes $9 a few months ago due to taxes, and yes, the guberment only raised the tax $6.70 ~ local retailers had to get in on it though and boosted things a bit more ~
