Police call rifle 'suspicious'

Boy found weapon in stream in Harris Twp.

Sara Ganim- sganim@centredaily.com

State College police are calling the rusty rifle found by an 8-year-old in Harris Township on Sunday "suspicious."

An 8-year-old boy discovered this modified rifle while playing in a stream near the 800 block of Ashwood Lane in Harris Township.

State College police Capt. Dana Leonard said the barrel of the .32-caliber Marlin 3365 was sawed off and shortened and the stock was altered to be more like a pistol grip.

Altering a rifle like that is illegal in Pennsylvania, Leonard said. He said the serial number was also obliterated — although it’s not known if that was intentional or a result of weather and rusting — and the weapon was found hidden under a rock in a stream.

“So, it’s our investigative theory that this rifle, the way it was found and was altered, there had been some criminal intent somewhere along the life of this rifle,” Leonard said. “We’re trying to trace where it came from and why it was there.”

Sooooooo.......what we have here is a "suspicious" rusty rifle that, at sometime during it's "life", exhibited criminal intent.

Well done, Capt. Dana Leonard (female affirmative action hire), you've done good! (1 image)

First I had ever heard of the "life" of inanimate objects. I bet it just killed people willy nilly while it was alive. Good thing some quick thinking individual drowned it and stopped its wanton, bizarre killing.

I've seen this police captain up close and personal. She appears to me to be in the wrong profession. She'd be better suited as a clerk in the woman's unmentionable department at WalMart.

As Mad Max might say, "You think she has seen one up close," do you?

That thing looks to have been in the water so long that it probably wasn't illegal to do that when it went in...

Bring on the Depression. Bring it the F*** ON! If digging ditches and eating beans for a few years is what it takes for me to see some worthless sacks of crap bankers and politicians living in sack cloth and being spat upon by my fellow Americans well... where's my shovel?!?!
