Without an explanatory preamble the poll question is rather abstruse. Obviously Democrats and Republicans are Americans with a keen interest in politics and government administration. By doing a lot of work or making a big contribution to the party/successful candidate the party member goes a long way to "preselecting" himself for any position he may be interested in. One of Obama's supporters raised 50 grand for the presidential campaign and subsequently has been "selected" as ambassador to Canada.

In some cases if you don't want to enter the conventional workforce or can't cut it in it then by supporting a candidate who wins goes a long way to providing you with a sinecure at taxpayer expense irrespective of your competence for the job (of any real need for the position). The situation is even more convoluted in America where you have the Israeli lobby taking on the task of running election campaigns to ensure that only candidates friendly to Israel get elected and then have a say which of their often crummy duals gets into key positions in the administration.

All poll questions need to be debated taking into consideration matters such as I've listed above along with other viewpoints, then a poll question framed and put to the "audience." So start a discussion thread, saying it will be followed by a question and a poll.

Ever notice in all polls there are many that have no opinion??????

That is akin to asking a man, "do you prefer I shoot you or hang you"...

Ten percent would have no opinion.

I would have to disagree. Most Rs and Ds I've known place Party wing membership before nation.
