WASILLA, Alaska — More than a thousand people showed up Friday for Gov. Sarah Palin's annual picnic held in her hometown of Wasilla.

Palin, who is resigning and leaves office on Sunday, used the occasion to sign autographs and hand out hot dogs.

The governor – dressed casually in blue jeans and a red sweat shirt that read "Once a patriot, always a patriot" – was mobbed by well-wishers who offered up babies, books, calendars, skateboards and even their hands for autographs. Several longtime picnic-goers said this year's picnic crowd dwarfed last year's.

Fred Kostrick, an 84-year-old World War II veteran from Michigan who attended the event, said he appreciated Palin's support of the military.

"I think she's one hell of a lady," he said. "She's tough, she stands her ground and she's taken a lot of guff – more than I could."

Wes Hammerick of Big Lake, Alaska, relayed his admiration for the governor and his dreams for the future in song.

"In 2012, I'll give you a hint: Alaska's pit bull will be our president," he sang in a tune titled "North to the Future."

At the end of the song, Hammerick shouted: "Sarah Palin for president!"

Save your love for someone outside the R v D matrix. Should she bolt the Rs, and renounce some neoconservative positions, I'll listen. I do love the way she tweaks the leftists, tho. Their off the chart hatred for her suggests she represents a threat at some level.

She's not a member of any of the high-powered talking shops, CFR etc., so she's probably suspect from a globalist perspective, and you have to know that the faux conservatives in office have to purple with envy at the spontaneous popular reaction that she can generate. That goes for the phony liberals too like Biden who can barely fill one hundred seats at a "town meeting." (How I've come to despise that term for these staged dog-and-pony shows.)

But just because she hasn't been vetted as a properly indoctrinated globalist, doesn't mean that she can't be used. Somewhere in Virginia some assholes with snazzy computers are doing simulations with her in the matrix.

There may be some who desire to sidle up to these fifteen hundred dollars suits and shake their moist pink lawyer hands, but not me. I loathe them.

I'm beginning to loathe suits and ties just on that score alone. I may never wear a suit again unless I have to go to a funeral. I'm afraid that the next one that I attend may be be held in honor of my country.

We all may be wearing camo though, should that day arrive.

My nephew shook Al Gores hand when he came to their school. He said Al Gore had very soft hands and that his hands had more calicoes on them then Gores.

Politics have become a Hollywood event, driven by focus groups and MSM polls. I really have no idea how anybody can take this slop seriously. It's about appearance and the ability to deliver a canned speech without being specific. The audience sheeple go because they like balloons, and the false sense is importance it gives them.
