• DALLAS TX pig  Sr. Cpl. Michael Vaughn gets 1 DAY SUSPENSION for murdering a boy.

DALLAS – Sr. Cpl. Michael Vaughn hung his head low and apologized in an emotional and confidential Internal Affairs hearing Thursday afternoon on the second floor of police headquarters.

He received a one-day suspension, to be served immediately, for accidentally hitting and killing 10-year-old Cole Berardi last fall.

Berardi was hit by Vaughn’s patrol car as the boy pedaled across the main lanes of a very dark stretch of Beltline Road in southeast Dallas. The officer was on his way to a call when the accident happened.

Vaughn’s one-day suspension was specifically for him not using his lights and sirens while traveling 72 mph in a 40-mph zone on the way to the call.

Pig Barber was arrested Thursday on two counts of battery stemming from a beating incident in April.Court documents indicated that Jason Barber, 32, was wearing a police uniform, badge and was carrying a gun during the incident.Police said Barber knocked on the door of a Hancock County man’s home on April 26 and began beating the man with a police baton when he answered the door.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A federal civil rights lawsuit alleges a southern Illinois sheriff’s deputy used a stun gun on three children at an emergency shelter while a fellow deputy mistreated a fourth child.

The children’s guardian filed the lawsuit this month against the Jefferson County deputies. It also names the county and Sheriff Roger Mulch.

According to the lawsuit, the deputies responded to the Southern 30 Adolescent Center near Mount Vernon last summer to help control two 12-year-olds and an 11-year-old. But the three children allegedly shocked with the stun gun weren’t the youths who prompted the call.

No criminal charges have been filed. And Mulch says investigations, including one by Illinois State Police, found that the deputies acted appropriately.

• Ex-Munhall PA officer violates probation in sex case

A fired Munhall police officer who is serving a five-year probation sentence for unlawful sexual contact with minors was arrested Tuesday night on charges he violated conditions of his release.

Michael Curtin Jr., 37, had faced 11 counts in connection with soliciting teenage girls for sex acts. He pleaded guilty in February to two counts of unlawful sexual contact with minors and one count of corruption of minors.

Common Pleas President Judge Donna Jo McDaniel sentenced Mr. Curtin to five years probation. Conditions of his probation included his prohibition from using computers or texting on his cell phone.

A warrant was issued Tuesday for his arrest in connection with an undisclosed probation violation that occurred at The Waterfront in Homestead.

Mr. Curtin is being held in the Allegheny County Jail, pending a hearing on his arrest.

Judge McDaniel, before the arrest, had granted Mr. Curtin permission to leave the state today to vacation with his parents at a beach in Delaware until Aug. 10. That permission is expected to be revoked.

Mr. Curtin also is scheduled for a Sept. 10 hearing to consider whether he should be classified as a sexually violent predator.

Mr. Curtin was fired in May 2008 from the Munhall Police Department following his arrest in February 2008.

5 years PROBATION for this. And pigs wonder why they are so hated.
