Kansas health officials Thursday announced the first death of a Kansan infected with the swine flu virus.

The victim was a middle-aged Sedgwick County woman who died of a chronic health condition but had contracted the H1N1 virus. Swine flu may have been a contributing factor but was not the cause of death, said Jennifer McCausland, Sedgwick County Health Department spokeswoman.

Officials also said a Riley County child has recovered from another strain of swine flu, H3N2.

Swine flu......was not the cause of death

More psyops from the MSM. Compare this line from the story to the misleading headline, which is a clear lie of omission for the rubes that don't bother reading past it.

Suffolk County man, an NYPD cop, dies after contracting swine flu

August 7, 2009 By BILL MASON AND RIDGELY OCHS.

A young New York City police officer who lived in Blue Point died Friday after contracting swine flu, officials said.

Ryan Johnson, 27, of the 83rd Precinct in Brooklyn, is the eighth person in Suffolk whose death is possibly linked to swine flu, the Suffolk County Health Department said.

"He fought valiantly over many weeks, often expressing his desire to return to the job," New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said in a statement Friday. "He was an impressive young man who will be missed by all who knew him."

Johnson joined the New York City police force in July 2004.

He was admitted to a hospital June 17, where he was tested for swine flu, the Suffolk health department said. He had an underlying health condition, the health department said, but would not elaborate.

"On behalf of the entire department, I express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of police Officer Ryan Johnson," Kelly said.

The officer's family declined to comment Friday.

With Johnson's death, 10 deaths on Long Island have been possibly linked to swine flu, including two in Nassau County.

New York City had 47 deaths as of July 7, when it stopped counting deaths attributed to the outbreak. connections

Nationwide, 436 deaths have been associated with swine flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Indian woman who tested positive for swine flu dies: officials

(AFP) – 10 hours ago

MUMBAI — A woman in India's financial capital Mumbai who had tested positive for swine flu has died in hospital, officials said Saturday.

The 53-year-old, who had a history of diabetes and high blood pressure, was being treated for pneumonia at a private hospital but was transferred to a specialist unit for suspected H1N1 cases late on Friday.

"She was found to be H1N1 positive. This patient has expired early in the day today (Saturday)," Manisha Mhaiskar, from the Mumbai municipal authority, told a news conference.

It was not immediately clear whether the woman's death was a direct result of swine flu and further details would be known from Sunday, Mhaiskar added.

If confirmed, the death would be only India's second from the virus, which first emerged in Mexico and the United States in April.

A 14-year-old girl died on Monday in the western city of Pune, some 120 kilometres (75 miles) from Mumbai.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) said this week that more than 1,150 people have died from swine flu and the virus was now in 168 countries and territories. Nearly 90 percent of deaths have been in the Americas.
