Broward IN Deputy charged with sexually assaulting illegal aliens
Broward Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Bleiweiss, 29, was arrested on Monday, and faces 14 charges, including three counts of sexual battery by a person in authority, four counts of battery and one count of stalking.
The charges against the Broward Sheriff Office’s Oakland Park 2008 Employee of the Year stem from allegations that he used his power as a police officer to coerce eight males including one minor to engage in oral sex with him when he had stopped them for routine traffic stops. He allegedly used the intimidation of his office to coerce them when he found out they were illegal aliens.
A deputy for seven years, Bleiweiss did have a past record that hinted at an officer who could potentially abuse his power. According to personnel records, he was internally investigated in 2005 concerning an excessive force complaint for which he was later fully exonerated.

A police chief facing charges over a burglary at the home of the surrogate mother to Sarah Jessica Parker’s twins has been put on leave.
Ohio officer Chief Chad Dojack will remain on paid leave until the case is resolved, council officials have said.
Mr Dojack and a second police chief, Barry Carpenter, pleaded not guilty on Friday to several felony charges.
Prosecutors alleged the men had conspired to take items from the woman’s home to sell on to paparazzi.

Leon County Deputy Andrew Taylor has been suspended with pay following his arrest Thursday night in connection with a disturbance at an apartment pool, said Sgt. Tony Drzewiecki, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Tallahassee Police Department report, Taylor, who had identified himself to people at the pool as an LCSO deputy, was upset black people were in the pool. He said he was going to get a gun and come back, according to the report.
Taylor, 37, was booked into the Leon County Jail on charges of battery and disorderly intoxication. He was released Friday on $750 bail.

(MCT) — A former Rogers County Deputy who worked courthouse security was charged with sexual battery this week. Following the arrest warrant issued by Judge Erin O’Quin on Aug. 3, Gary Carter Handley of Broken Arrow turned himself in and was booked into Rogers County Jail Wednesday morning.

The 60-year-old Democrat was sentenced Friday to a year and a day in prison, ending a two-year public corruption investigation. With time off for good behavior, he could be free by September. He must pay a $3,000 fine and will be on supervised release, similar to probation, for another year after he is freed.
MILWAUKEE (AP) – Three white former police officers were sentenced to long prison terms Thursday for the off-duty beating of a biracial man, an attack that outraged the city and sent protesters into the streets.
A judge sentenced Jon Bartlett to 17 years and four months, with three years of supervision and $16,365 in restitution. Daniel Masarik was sentenced to 15 years and eight months, and Andrew Spengler received the same sentence.
Bartlett, 36, Masarik, 27, and Spengler, 28, were convicted with another former officer for taking part in the beating of Frank Jude Jr. outside a housewarming party in October 2004.
Bartlett was the ringleader in the attack, Jude wrote in a statement submitted to the court Thursday. Jude feared for his life and had hoped U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert would give Bartlett the maximum 20-year sentence, he wrote.
“You and your fellow police officer friends attempted to kill me and take my life,” he wrote. “Mr. Bartlett, you are a disgrace, a disgrace to all police officers, and every public official in the world.”

Detroit — A decorated former Detroit police officer was sentenced to 16 months in prison in federal court Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to tax evasion.
U.S. District Judge David M. Lawson also ordered Vincent L. Crockett to pay restitution of $14,547 for the federal income taxes he evaded.
Crockett, 41, was indicted in 2007, accused of stealing six kilograms of cocaine worth more than $2 million from the police evidence room. He pleaded guilty to the lesser, tax-related charge in April and prosecutors agreed to drop embezzlement and drug trafficking charges.
Rist, 47, was fired from her job on the Ironton Police Department last year and charged with tampering with evidence, a felony. She ended up pleading guilty in February to a misdemeanor charge of falsification and was placed on two years probation. The plea agreement allowed her to avoid a jail sentence and keep alive a chance to get her job back.
Morford has filed a motion to terminate Rist’s probation. Judge Frederick W. Crow III has set the case for a hearing Sept. 4.
“We could file a civil suit, but I would prefer to resolve this without more litigation,” Morford said. The decision not to put her back to work “is just getting the tab higher.”
While the arbitration ruling didn’t mention back pay, Morford said, Rist is entitled to workers’ compensation. He said Rist also should be paid from the time the arbitrator approved her motion to reinstate her on July 13.

Venegas
A former Hollister police officer who has pleaded no contest to annoying or molesting a 16-year-old girl has served 60 days in county jail and has started three years of probation as part of the sentence, which also requires his registration as a sex offender, according to court records.
Macario Venegas had been with the Hollister Police Department for eight months before his arrest and departure from the force in December. The fondling incident occurred in a patrol car on Nov. 30 while Venegas was on duty. Police learned of the incident when they received a call from a resident who reported it.
