(Palo) We are lucky for the hospitality of 4um, their owner, Christine, and their kind posters
I am not on email with Goldi, but another poster is and was kind enough to forward me Goldi's email
so I would know what was going on and could share it with others
It looks like we will be on 4um for a while so I want to express my gratitude to 4um for their hospitality to us

Here is the email from Goldi which was forwarded on to me

We have assessed the damage and will be replacing most of the parts that run the server. The heat damaged pretty much everything.

The software may also be corrupted, and we will have to go back to our last good copy of a backup.

We may lose some of the database, so when we come back up we may lose the past few weeks of posts.

My best guess is 7 to 10 days downtime (max)

it sounds like Goldi is estimating 1 to 2 weeks?

I just posted Sibel's article from her Blog telling us how to listen to her radio show
the radio show is posted, Sibel supplies link to hear it
And the email from Sibel arrived only 1 hour ago (I am on her email list)
so 4um posters are first to hear about it

What if you found yourself on Houston Street and Avenue A
and there was Katz's
if it weren't for 4um you wouldn't know you could go in and order a kasha knish

it isn't much bigger than a taco
but it is square
my high school boyfriend's mother told me her husband
when they were both high school age (Seward Park High School on Lower East Side)

her husband Morris had a knish hot cart (like a hot dog hot cart)
but by the time I lived on Lower east Side, you had to go to Katz's for knish
I never saw a knish hotcart

you could get potato knish, sauerkraut knish, or kasha knish
I bet a sauerkraut knish is good
altho potato knish is standard

I guess they cost whatever a taco cost back then

it's the same idea, a little snack

No you didn't. You have to go to NC to learn what Barb B Que is. Even then they fight over which is best,the eastern style or the western style. I personally like the western NC style best.

and invited the whole Ron Paul Tucson group
I went to it
I thought bbq was most delicious thing I ever ate

I was still ultra liberal when I first arrived on Lucy's site (at Y2K)
I came because I thought Prez clinton was the most dangerous enemy our country ever had
I was determined to get him out of power in 2000
I did not know the conservative position on any issue
I learned them all on Lucy's site from fellow posters
they held water for me, so I switched my positions

but I didn't become libertarian till I arrived on LP and was educated by the Constitutionalists there

I am someone who has learned a great deal from my fellow posters
I am so appreciative and grateful

my dad was ultra leftist (and dogmatic)
I was raised that way
when I was in college CCNY, I was in groups that were so far left
we saw liberals as the enemy
(we called them cop-outs, and accused them of co-opting us)

when I married at 25 my husband succeeded in turning me into a liberal
"You were a hard nut to crack" he said afterwards

but when I moved to Tucson, I had no friends here at first
my husband was going to art school
I was New Yorker who had not learned how to drive
I was trapped in house during long endless afternoons

I began to watch the news for first time
and I made the big decision to put the truth ahead of my ideology
so a whole new world came into place

yes when I joined forums at Y2K, all my ideas were still liberal
I didn't know any others but I was open minded

O Pete it was so interesting for me learning all the other positions on things
but what affected me the most
was the passion for liberty
I had always been an idealist (since I was in diapers)
my dad was idealist too, altho it was civil rights, stop the bomb, and help the poor
the one area I knew nothing about was individual liberty
this is what I learned from my fellow posters on forums
I owe everything to them, I went from being a socialist to a libertarian because of them
I now put individual liberty above every other value

isn't that interesting Pete, I just realized it now
it was the posters on forums who introduced me to new values
it's a great gift to me
because I believe they are true and infinitely valuable
