(Palo) We are lucky for the hospitality of 4um, their owner, Christine, and their kind posters Here is the email from Goldi which was forwarded on to me We have assessed the damage and will be replacing most of the parts that run the server. The heat damaged pretty much everything. The software may also be corrupted, and we will have to go back to our last good copy of a backup. We may lose some of the database, so when we come back up we may lose the past few weeks of posts. My best guess is 7 to 10 days downtime (max) Goldi
I am not on email with Goldi, but another poster is and was kind enough to forward me Goldi's email
so I would know what was going on and could share it with others
It looks like we will be on 4um for a while so I want to express my gratitude to 4um for their hospitality to us

About the only thing that we have here is guys with their dead pig products (Hot Dogs), in a bun, and the customer gets to select the condiments to mask the taste. For a buck, and however much you want to tip out, how wrong can you go? It's garbage, but once a month? What does it matter?

I never had them at all until I married. My husband's family served them on Chanukah. I bought one of those salad shooters to grate the potatoes so I could make them. Power grating is the only way to go. I also use it for my carrot cake. OI, you would love my carrot cake!

I never had potato latkes at all until I married. Yes in Tucson my neighbor when I lived in apartments said her son was visiting and asked her to make potato latkes

All modesty aside I make a pretty killer Carrot Cake myself. It helps to have a food processor - I basically pulverize the carrots and use Cake Flour. It gives it a very fine grain - not the coarse grain of most Carrot Cakes. The batter looks soupy but it bakes up just fine.

A food processor makes short work of grating spuds. I don't know how I would make Pesto without it. I sure am not going to make it the old fashioned way with a mortar and pestle.

Yes, I have never liked the heavy carrot cake. Mine is not fine grained but it is an Amish recipe and absolute heaven!
The Amish know good food. I like it where I am, but living near an Amish community would be a good thing in a Social Breakdown. The Amish, not relying on modern technology, would survive - as long as the locals protected them from the Human Wolves. Being a pacifist has its drawbacks. It only works in a stable society.

It's garbage, but once a month? What does it matter? Hebrew National baby - the only Dog I eat anymore (except the rare Niman Ranch Dog - no nitrates). All beef and great taste for a junk meat product. Mustard and Onions and I'm in heaven. Oh, a cold beer helps.

I used to love the food at the original Jim Boy's on Harbor and the one in downtown Sac wasn't half bad either, but since they've become a chain the quality has gone way downhill.
