This is the song I wanted to hear on my 32nd wedding anniversary, which was yesterday.
Yeah, 32 years of delightful, wedded bliss (or to quote Peter Finch from the film NETWORK "shrill, shrieking fraud") which brings to mind another humorous moment.
A while back my friend Leslie (known as PARAVATI on LF) invited me to her wedding, and I gently declined with "I don't believe in marriage".
"But, you're married!" she typed back.
"Thaaaat's right!" I replied.
I know, that's a Hell of a thing to tell a young woman who was planning a wedding.
I wish I had started being truthful long ago....
If I ever pre-order a tombstone (which is doubtful) it will read "He died the first time he got married, but the music and the drugs were so good that despite the pain he couldn't bring himself to stiffen up and stop moving"
"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." --Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791
Congratulations on 32 years, I tip my hat to you and your bride!!

The best and first guarantor of our neutrality and our independent existence is the defensive will of the people and the proverbial marksmanship of the Swiss shooter. Each soldier a good marksman! Each shot a hit! -Schweizerische Schuetzenzeitung (Swiss Shooting Federation) April, 1941
I have a couple of aunts that have been married 5 or 6 times. Wake up and smell the coffee! What is the point in that?
I'm all for having a companion to do things with but I have come to value separate space.

Our marriage odometer clicked 31 earlier this month.
Thank you and congratulations on 31 years.
Nobody warned you, either? I asked my "best man" about that and he said, "I want other men to get married so they can be happy like everybody else!"
Wifey and I were on the road together for a little over a year before our wedding so we also passed our 33rd year together.
That's the date (July 5th) I feel is worth celebrating if any, but of course mothers-in-law teach daughters to celebrate the day when the law abandons men and runs to the wives' corners.....They say, "Go on and marry him, if it doesn't work out he'll have to support ya!"
My fave one panel cartoon shows a newlywed couple leaving church in a limo and the bride is saying, "Well, I won't be needing this anymore!" as she tosses her diet book out the window.
21 and counting for us. Not something I'll ever do again.

Hard for even that kind of love to survive 21 years of daily verbal abuse.

My advice to my youngest son included things that no one told me:
Q: "What kind of food makes a woman stop having sex?"
A: "Wedding cake".
Sooner or later they all insist that we marry, so, I suggested that he have a vasectomy but don't tell her, and (for a while at least) she'll let him screw her brains out if she thinks she gonna get knocked up!
And when she catches on he can trade up to a newer model! (at some point, usually when things can't possibly get any better for him she too will insist on tying the noose...I mean, knot! Tell #2 that #1 had an abortion behind his back and that he wants kids so badly that he immediately divorced her! This will garner unbelievable sympathy and he can then begin screwing in earnest! heh heh)
If he listens to his ol' pappy he won't ever worry because he'll never have a son who can fall into an open well known as "Casados con hijos".
