Atheism/agnostic beliefs (or lack thereof) do not exclude a belief in the founding principles of this nation. We are not and have never been a theocracy. Americans can firmly advocate and believe in the freedom of man without having to subscribe to a religion. One can also fully understand and appreciate religion's role in society without having to condemn it, as an atheist or agnostic.

That said, there are an awful lot of atheists and agnostics who are total dick-cheeses, and many do fall on the statist side of the spectrum. But as is true with anything regarding people and groups, you have to judge each individual in his or her own merits.

If Thomas Paine had the advantage of learning more about the natural world he would be an atheist. Jefferson too. Neither were Christians. So I guess you believe both to be burning in hell? Thomas Paine was the Richard Dawkins of his day.

It is from the Bible that man has learned cruelty, rapine and murder; for the belief of a cruel God makes a cruel man. -- Thomas Paine

There is scarcely any part of science, or anything in nature, which those imposters and blasphemers of science, called priests, as well Christians as Jews, have not, at some time or other, perverted, or sought to pervert to the purpose of superstition and falsehood. -- Thomas Paine

The study of theology, as it stands in Christian churches, is the study of nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on nothing; it proceeds by no authorities; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing and admits of no conclusion. -- Thomas Paine

Everything wonderful in appearance has been ascribed to angels, to devils, or to saints. Everything ancient has some legendary tale annexed to it. The common operations of nature have not escaped their practice of corrupting everything. -- Thomas Paine

No falsehood is so fatal as that which is made an article of faith. -- Thomas Paine,

What is it the New Testament teaches us? To believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married; and the belief of this debauchery is called faith. -- Thomas Paine

The Bible: a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalise mankind. -- Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason (1793-5)

The Christian system of religion is an outrage on common sense. -- Thomas Paine

The Bible is a book that has been read more, and examined less, than any book that ever existed. -- Thomas Paine

Priests and conjurors are of the same trade. -- Thomas Paine

Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon that the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel. -- Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason (1794)

No, they don't. You're inventing a demon in order to whip it on a pole.

In essence, you're looking to make enemies where there are some friends. Is there nothing more pressing right now than trying to cull out liberty loving people who don't believe in your god? You need all the help you can get right now. If you truly believe that there are no founding father admiring liberty loving agnostics or atheists, that informs me that you're out of touch and need to expand your acquaintances in the world.

Assuming, of course, that you're for liberty as defined by the age of Reason and the Founding Fathers I mean (I honestly don't know).

No, it's an opinion being presented as a fact, based on false assumptions and pre-made demons ready for whipping.

I'm sorry, but it's an ignorant, narrow, small minded and rather absurd view for the author to take.

There's no further need to argue about this, since there's nothing to debate. One cannot force people to learn after all. I know for a fact I'm right on this, having experience of knowing many agnostics/atheists who believe strongly in the principles of the founders, so the article is de facto a dead letter.

Cheers

If all the atheists left America, ideologically we’d be back to the principals of the Founding Fathers.

oh good....atheists vs luciferians.........

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were anti-Christ and anti-Christian documents....wish more people would understand that. [Ezekiel 17:7-10/Matthew 15:13]

===========================

edit.

that flag says it all....[the floundering fathers weren't Christians; Christians wouldn't identify themselves with the serpent in Genesis 3:15]

btw....

"....Now you have the answers to what is and has happened to the American people. Truthfully, it started when President Washington used the first "emergency power’s act" in 1791, so he could, unconstitutionally in peace time, but constitutional in war time because it was "necessary" to install the first private bank in America. He then set up each State as a "district State" so the United States could control through its "district courts" what it could not do under the original constitution in time of peace. They took the physical State and overlaid it with a fictitious "district state." That is why you have U.S. district courts in every State of the Union. James Montgomery has documented this action, and I believe he has it posted on www.atgpress.com in his section immediately below the Informer's section.

To get to the bottom of all your woes today, one must go back in time to see how they accomplished this. This is why I have stated that IF the people, the common everyday people, had really drafted AND ratified their own creation of a contract, do you think they would, or rather put you in their position, drafted such a damaging piece of paper called the "Constitution?" I know I would not have. Especially the emergency powers part where once the President took control, constitutionally mind you, that it would be the engine for total control. Such has been the case since 1791. Patrick Henry and the other anti-federalists saw what was happening and the common average man on the street, just like today, said it could not happen and allowed this to happen out of shear ignorance. Today we have most of the people who have no clue what really took place. They cannot fathom why they rape them repeatedly again and cannot claim their unalienable rights. They cannot understand why the so-called Bill of Rights can no longer be used. They cannot understand why the Constitution that they thought was theirs, is not, and cannot be used in the prize courts of admiralty. Simply stated, "enemies have no rights."

What is fascinating is this passage from Solicitor of Lincoln's War Department, William Whiting's book on War Powers, where he wrote;

"The belligerent right of the government to confiscate enemy's real estates, situated in this country, can hardly admit of question. The title is to no inconsiderable part of real estate in each of the original States of the Union, rests upon the validity of confiscation acts, passed by our ancestors against loyal adherents to the crown. Probably none of these States failed to pass and apply these laws. English and American acts of confiscation were recognized by the laws of both countries, and their operation modified by treaties; their validity was never denied. The only authority which either of the States or colonies ever had for passing such laws was derived from the fact that they were belligerents."

Right here it is evident that the States, created the same way the United States was, by the aristocrats, would consider themselves belligerents against the common man on the street who had no say in the drafting and ratifying of any of the constitutions of any of the States. The common man had no money to speak of nor any large amount of real property to be able to become a member of the contract called the State. In all the States you had to have at least 500 pounds sterling or a land mass equivalent to that amount before becoming an elector or even thinking of running for office. This is but another small proof that you and me, the common man of that era, was considered as nothing. Just like we look at street bums of today, they looked at the common man. No dear people, we were never considered part of their posterity and never drafted nor ratified any constitution. The statement the constitution was "divinely inspired" is so far from the truth that it should be stated that it was the "works of the devil." ...."

What's an Altheist?

In 2007, the FBI reported on concern about white supremacists recruiting soldiers, saying "hundreds" of neo-Nazis were in the active military. But in April, a Department of Homeland Security report on extremism that reiterated much the same point was widely criticized by veterans groups and some conservative politicians as being unpatriotic, leading the Justice Department to retract the DHS report.

Critics acknowledge that extremism in the Army is a touchy political subject.

That raises more questions than it answers.

Normally I'd love to but I'm scheduled to meet a woman offering me a job securing coolers, surgical tools, a ton of bagged ice, and a dozen non-descript big-block powered vans. There was something about a hi-tech copier, but I was nodding off by then.

I'll just talk about one of your attributes you mentioned. Judgmental. What is wrong with being judgmental? The Bible tells us to judge righteous judgment.

I judge you to be a tool of Pat Robertson and the like, you think you're a Christian yet you reject the teachings of Christ. I can't recall any of His sermons mentioning deportation of non-believers.

I don't support deporting anyone but illegals. I just posted an article to stir it up a bit. It is true though. That if all the atheists left that the political climate would change. It would resemble the founders philosophy much more then the way our country is today.

I will take the time to talk you through this personal indecision all by yourself. Your rhetorical question means nothing to anyone, much less the world or the universe. You are the bottom of the ladder; the lower order of the f**king pecking order; the last chance for the world to take a peek at your comments.

How often do atheists stop you from doing what you want to do? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

The government is full of atheists so it is hard to tell. Dakmar I don't have anything personally against atheists. I don't think they should be thrown out. I just posted an article and noted that YES the countries politics would be different if the atheists left the country. I also think it would be different if women weren't allowed to vote. I think that if women didn't vote our history would be different and we would have had better leaders. It might not be PC to say that but I think it is true. I'm not calling for the repeal of the whatever amendment though.

Maybe you should show us how a good Christian behaves... Try taking down the article you put up on your site dissing the hostess here, while you are using her site as we post. That would show the world, you, at least, incorporated the Christian principles you expound into your OWN life.

Thank you very much.

Why should I, as a net taxpayer, have my vote canceled out by someone with a mortgage that I'm subsidizing via taxation?
