Anti Gun N. C. State State Senator Shoots A Home Invader North Carolina State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, the longest-serving lawmaker in the General Assembly, shot an intruder as he tried to break into his home Sunday. He shot 22-year-old Thomas Kyle Blackburn in the leg as Blackburn and another man allegedly tried to break down his door. They apparently were both legal clients of the senator.

The Senator, who has made a career of being against guns for you and me, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger, and was the victim of a crime against himself.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do as I say and not as I do" anti gun Democrat picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self defense shooting, something he doesn't want you be able to do.

His life and personal safety must be be far more valuable than yours or mine. But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

They apparently were both legal clients of the senator.

There may be a homosexual angle to this:

Tabor City, N.C. — Police Chief Donald Dowless has asked Columbus County prosecutors and state agents to investigate a man's claim that state Sen. R.C. Soles fondled him when the man was 15 years old.

Stacy Scott, who's now 27, made the allegation during a Wednesday interview that aired on Wilmington television station WWAY-TV. Scott is a former client of Soles, who has practiced law in Tabor City for 50 years.

Dowless said Scott never reported to police the abuse allegations and the claim that Soles paid the man $1,000 to keep quiet about the incident.

"If it’s true, then we need to get to the truth of it and put this thing to rest,” Dowless said.

WWAY taped its interview with Scott a year ago when Soles was running for re- election and had several run-ins with Scott.

Soles, who has served in the Senate for 30 years and spent eight years in the House before that, denied the allegations Friday in an interview with WWAY.

Scott has been convicted of felony burning personal property, damaging vending machines, assault, injury to personal property, driving while impaired and resisting a public officer.

"I think it's a bunch of lies, all these allegations that are being made," said Allen Strickland, who called Soles a family friend.

Strickland, 17, said Soles has provided him enough money in recent years to buy a Corvette and a 640-square-foot house.

"He's like a father to me. He helps me any way he can. If I need anything, he's always there to help me," he said. “He didn’t just offer me money. I told him I needed some school supplies, (and) he said anything to help anybody stay in school.”

Strickland's house burned down two weeks ago, which brought attention to his relationship with Soles.

Police suspect arson but said there's no indication Soles was involved.

On 2nd thought, that would be jumping the gun, pun not intended.

I cant find any proof that he is anti-gun. Just blog posts that claim he is, without proof. That's not good enough.

My, my, my. Another Carl Rowan:

Rowan gained public notoriety on June 14, 1988, when he shot a teenage trespasser, Neil Smith, who was using Rowan's swimming pool in Washington, D.C.. Rowan used an unregistered .22 LR pistol. Critics charged hypocrisy, since Rowan was a strict gun control advocate. In a 1981 column, he advocated "a law that says anyone found in possession of a handgun except a legitimate officer of the law goes to jail—period." In 1985, he called for "A complete and universal federal ban on the sale, manufacture, importation and possession of handguns (except for authorized police and military personnel)." [2] [3]

Immediately after the shooting, Rowan offered several conflicting accounts about where he got the handgun. He first said that he had purchased the gun himself in response to threats on his life (which he later claimed had been made by the Ku Klux Klan). He also initially claimed that the gun had been properly registered. However, when District of Columbia police disclosed that the gun had not been registered, Rowan changed his story, claiming that the gun belonged to his son, who "was an FBI agent and did not have to register it [because it was] properly registered federally." Police officials pointed out that under D.C. law, all guns must be registered locally; failure to do so was punishable by up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Rowan was tried but the jury was deadlocked, the judge declared a mistrial and he was never retried. In his autobiography, Rowan said he still favors gun control, but admits being vulnerable to a charge of hypocrisy.

Thanks for nuthin', Jr.

That's it.

Why the anti-gun angle? Is that a smokescreen?

Why the anti-gun angle? Is that a smokescreen?

Being anti-gun is just politics, buying young boys Corvettes/houses and giving them cash is the REAL scandal.

Rowan gained public notoriety on June 14, 1988, when he shot a teenage trespasser,

Rowan got away with not being charged for illegal possession of a handgun in DC because he told the police the 22 belonged to his FBI agent son.

There were no reports as to why THIS made it legal for Rowan to be in possession of it because he had no permit and there is no permit to be in possession of firearms that belong to someone else.

Then again,a chocolate journalist in a chocolate city ran by a chocolate mayor ain't going to be arrested for something like this.

And let's not forget the SC justice that wrote the opinion that the GCA of 68 was legal and that DC and other cities had the legal right to ban guns met a reporter that knocked at his door that very night with a cocked 45 caliber Colt Peacemaker in his hand. A revolver the reporter could find no record of ever being registered in DC,and that the justice had no permit to possess.

Wish I could remember his name right now,but can't.
