HAving made the mistake of going shopping with women, and got nothing but aggravation for it, I can see a man doing this out of sheer boredom and frustration.

Women need to learn the right way to shop.

I don't shop with men, not even if I'm going to Home Depot or Harbor Freight. Two of my favorite stores btw. Shopping is what girlfriends are for.

That jokes been around, but still funny.

Like a typical man, I view shopping as a paramilitary tactical operation.
I decide before leaving the house what my objective is, and where to acquire it. I drive directly to the store, park, and walk quickly into the store.
Then I quickly walk directly to the items I want, dodging kamikaze baby strollers, slow movers, people in motorized chairs, and people who insist on having family reunions in the middle of an aisle.
After snatching my booty (yes, double entendre), I proceed to the fastest check out lane, exit the store, and return home.

Sometimes I go to a store and look at stuff. That is reconnaissance.

Women need to learn the right way to shop.

The way I've come to see it, women look at shopping the way men look at fishing. With fishing, after you've done it a while, you come to understand that the purpose is not to actually catch fish. I suspect women see shopping in an analogous way.

Yeah, except I dont catch fish, look at it's color and style, and wonder if putting it on the stringer will make my butt look big, or that the other fisherman has the same type and size fish on his stringer.

But there might be a evolutionary reason for it. Even if the object of fishing is to catch fish (regardless of the nice weather etc.) and the object of shopping is to buy what is needed.

What I mean is that once you achieve kind of a zen level of fishing (note I didn't say professional), you come to find all of the things that go with fishing comforting, relaxing, reassuring. You spend time with your son, not actually focused on fish, but talking to each other, bullshitting, that kind of thing. It's more than the activity at that point, it's the things that come from that activity.

I strongly suspect that women are born with this zen level thing built in, in regards to shopping. They can shop all day and only buy 10% of what they handle. The enjoyment of picking up things, chatting with girlfriends, all the social activities and relaxation is perhaps why they go, I'm thinking?

I'm thinking?

I'm thinking you are thinking right. Lord knows I am no expert when it comes to women, except when they start with their little games. Those I recognize with no problem. But I agree with you. It's still aggravating.

I don't shop, I go straight to what I want and buy it.

I would have parked in front of Sears, and bought Sears jeans for $10.
:)

My latest shopping pet-peeve is young women who hang out at the condom display in Walmart.
I dont hang out in tampon aisle. Maybe I should, and say "Heavy month, huh" or "You look young. First period?".
Nah, that would be mean.

Haven't noticed that. Would seem odd though.

Edit: now that I think about it, aren't the specialty oils sold with condoms?

Good one!

But change that to buying a box of ammo at Cabelas instead of pants, and you would have the same map. ;)

Yeah, maybe that's what they are looking at. They have the warming stuff, and the other KY lubes.
I still would rather they bug-off. I like some privacy when when making an intimate purchase.

I can understand that. You are a private kind of guy.
