BEINGS AS FOUNDERS OF CIV. anyone who wants to unravel the 'mysterious' surroundings of freemasonry, the illuminists, and organized religion would do well to read R.Temple's The Sirius Mystery, which reads like a graduate level history tome, but is very very good. In Sirius Mystery, Temple puts forth the most convincing case, based on a wide range of ancient texts and indigenous peoples, including the Dogon Tribe, that man was in fact taught by amphibious beings originating in the Sirius star system...for example, the Dogon, a very primitive tribe, has knowledge of sirius B, invisible to the naked eye, and other things. which only recently western science had the tech. to verify.... when considering the amphib, angle, recall the prominent role that the 'fish hat' plays in the vatican, which is a reference to Oannes (John), which is actually from babylon, I believe...anyway, most fascinating.... And he mentions that there were written accounts, preserved at Babylon with the greatest care, comprehending a period of above fifteen myriads of years: and that these writings contained histories of the heaven and of the sea; of the birth of mankind; and of the kings, and of the memorable actions which they had achieved. And in the first place he describes Babylonia as a country situated between the Tigris and the Euphrates: that it abounded with wheat, and barley, and ocrus, and sesame; and that in the lakes were produced the roots called gongre, which are fit for food, and in respect to nutriment similar to barley. That there were also palm trees and apples, and a variety of fruits; fish also and birds, both those which are merely of flight, and those which frequent the lakes. He adds, that those parts of the country which bordered upon Arabia, were without water, and barren; but that the parts which lay on the other side were both hilly and fertile. At Babylon there was (in these times) a great resort of people of various nations, who inhabited Chaldæa, and lived in a lawless manner like the beasts of the field. In the first year there appeared, from that part of the Erythræan sea which borders upon Babylonia, an animal destitute1 of reason, by name Oannes, whose whole body (according to the account of Apollodorus) was that of a fish; that under the fish's head he had another head, with feet also below, similar to those of a man, subjoined to the fish's tail. His voice too, and language, was articulate and human; and a representation of him is preserved even to this day. This Being was accustomed to pass the day among men; but took no food at that season; and he gave them an insight into letters and sciences, and arts of every kind. He taught them to construct cities, to found temples, to compile laws, and explained to them the principles of geometrical knowledge. He made them distinguish the seeds of the earth, and shewed them how to collect the fruits; in short, he instructed them in every thing which could tend to soften manners and humanize their lives. From that time, nothing material has been added by way of improvement to his instructions. And when the sun had set, this Being Oannes, retired again into the sea, and passed the night in the deep; for he was amphibious. After this there appeared other animals like Oannes, of which Berossus proposes to give an account when he comes to the history of the kings. There appeared men, some of whom were furnished with two wings, others with four, and with two faces. They had one body but two heads: the one that of a man, the other of a woman: and likewise in their several organs both male and female. Other human figures were to be seen with the legs and horns of goats: some had horses' feet: while others united the hind quarters of a horse with the body of a man, resembling in shape the hippocentaurs. Bulls likewise were bred there with the heads of men; and dogs with fourfold bodies, terminated in their extremities with the tails of fishes: horses also with the heads of dogs: men too and other animals, with the heads and bodies of horses and the tails of fishes. In short, there were creatures in which were combined the limbs of every species of animals. In addition to these, fishes, reptiles, serpents, with other monstrous animals, which assumed each other's shape and countenance. Of all which were preserved delineations in the temple of Belus at Babylon. The person, who presided over them, was a woman named Omoroca; which in the Chaldæan language is Thalatth;2 in Greek Thalassa, the sea; but which might equally be interpreted the Moon. All things being in this situation, Belus came, and cut the woman asunder: and of one half of her he formed the earth, and of the other half the heavens; and at the same time destroyed the animals within her.3 All this (he says) was an allegorical description of nature. For, the whole universe consisting of moisture, and animals being continually generated therein, the deity above-mentioned took off his own head: upon which the other gods mixed the blood, as it gushed out, with the earth; and from thence were formed men. On this account it is that they are rational, and partake of divine knowledge. This Belus, by whom they signify Jupiter,4 divided the darkness, and separated the Heavens from the Earth, and reduced universe to order. But the animals, not being able to bear the prevalence of light, died. Belus upon this, seeing a vast space unoccupied, though by nature fruitful, commanded one of the gods to take off his head, and to mix the blood with the earth; and from thence to form other men and animals, which should be capable of bearing the air.5 Belus formed also the stars, and the sun, and the moon, and the five planets. (Such, according to Polyhistor Alexander, is the account which Berossus gives in his first book.) (In the second book was contained the history of the ten kings of the Chaldæans, and the periods of the continuance of each reign, which consisted collectively of an hundred and twenty sari, or four hundred and thirty-two thousand years; reaching to the time of the Deluge. For Alexander, enumerating the kings from the writings of the Chaldæans, after the ninth Ardates, proceeds to the tenth, who is called by them Xisuthrus, in this manner:) After the death of Ardates, his son Xisuthrus reigned eighteen sari. In his time happened a great Deluge; the history of which is thus described. golly wogers, i just don't know.... but, if its in the Cookbook of Rome (the bible), it's gotta be true. the bible isn't recycled and borrowed babylonian and egyptian myths...why, just ask the jews...they'll tell you...hey, this land is ours....see, its in this book we just happen to have, that just happens to support our claim, whose only proof is a collection of dusty ruins in need of condemnation.

I think you're confusing Dogon, with Dagon. Dagon was a fish person, not an amphibian. Cthulhu, again, another fish person, not amphibian. Lovecraft's deep-ones were all fish/human hybrids. No frogs to speak of in any of the Lovecraftian mythology. Now, if you followed August Derleth....

Both the civilisation of Sumer and the Lower Indus River, (Harappa and Moenjodaro, unexplored since the British left the ruins to the Islamists), have as their sea god, an amphibious half man half fish deity of the oceans. Good post. Now, to discuss what role genetic engineering had in creating the morass of mixedup neurons, god, violence, worship, sex - in our brains. This is Dr. Michael Magee's Mystery of Jesus Pages. ( http://www.askwhy.co.uk/awmob/mob.htm ) for the index. He tells us: "In Greek, John's name is Ioannes, the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name Johanan. Curiously Ioannes resembles the Greek for the pagan god Ea, the God of the House of Water -- sweet refreshing water, not briny sea water -- which is Oannes. More curiously, Oannes pronounced in Aramaic would come out close to Enosh! "Now Oannes was a saviour god of the Babylonians -- the god who saved mankind from the flood by warning the Babylonian Noah about it, allowing him to build an ark. Either the early Christians have given the Baptist an appropriate name of the gods with whom educated Greeks were familiar, or the Jews had already made these associations. "Johanan is always given as meaning the Grace of God but it is a name which appears only in scriptural books written after the return from Babylonian exile, notably Chronicles. It seems that the name Johanan actually was brought back from exile with the returning priests. Johanan therefore is Oannes in Hebrew and the meaning Grace of God was devised for it later. Thus John the Baptist was given the name Johanan precisely because his duty was that of the god, Oannes. The article goes on to describe the significance of John, Oannes, and their association with Capricorn, and Goat and Fish gods. This rings a bell elsewhere, I'm sure OTO Initiates might agree. It also rings a bell, when we get to the lengthy extract taken from L. A. Waddell, on the Sumerian origins of John the Baptist. Also, we know that the other name John, which is really Jon, short for Jonathan, is associated with the name Dositheos, which means the same thing. And Dositheos comes (we repeat this over and over, we know...) from al-Dustan, or Dostai, which is an Assyrian name, showing up during the time the Assyrians were colonizing Samaria. The Dostai were priests from Assyria (Cuthah?) who interpreted the laws, customs, and religious practices of the Assyrians to the Israelites in Samaria. And, interestingly enough, the historical Dositheos, who barely gets mentioned in the annals of history, is remembered for being the Samaritan Messiah, who made claims the Jews and everyone else considered heretical. The name Jonathan figures prominently in the Dead Sea Scrolls, in 'Paean for King Jonathan.' Only, instead of Alexander Jannaeus, who the translators claim it to be, we suggest another Jonathan. In the Greek, God is THEOS (Qeon). "Has Given" is DoV or DoVi. DoViqeoV, Dositheos, is Jonathan, in Greek.(2) According to J. M. Allegro and others, Dositheos was a Samaritan who was a member of the Essene Community. He was, in fact, the Essene Teacher of Righteousness. This Essene Teacher of Righteousness has almost always been associated with the coming Messiah, or with Jesus. In short, then, the Johannites, rather than being Christian, as we all consider Christians to be, were Initiates. They were Gnostics, and this is the line of succession that must be traced, for there are sixty Johns in succession from the First, culminating in Theoclet, who conferred Initiation upon Hugues de Payen and Godefroi de Saint-Omer. At least, if we are to consider the story in the Legend of the 17° (Knight of the East and West) to be a veiled historical narrative. From Theoclet, we have the Johns in the Prieuré de Sion (Ordre de la Rose-Croix Veritas).

on one thing both creationists and evolutionist agree....SOMEHOW, man came from mud. meanwhile, an egocentric view doesn't notice the correlation between high technology and the certitude of genetic engineering....we're now debating human clones... so, an advanced civilization would very much perform genetic engineering, and, if earth were looked at as a 'colony', engineering suitable workers for one's goals is absolutely logical....rather than children of 'god' they are assets of some corporation, if you will....and it does say 'Christ came to set the captives free'...but you have to think a little to get around the vatican's drivel. of course, humans WOULD have done it, if they hadn't needed to....they used slaves.

King's work is fairly derivative, but not even close to Lovecraft. Lovecraft dealt with people going nuts, more often than not, and concerned himself with vagueries that were never fully explained, which made the horror all the more palpable. King to me is like a kid playing with toys left behind by his older siblings, and is way more mainstream. I'd say Clive Barker, or Brian Lumley were people who were more inspired by Lovecraft. Here's a little bit of Lovecraft Trivia. He was followed by German Spies, and questioned on more than one occasion about the Necronomicon, and asked to write propaganda for the Nazis based on his historical references to Elder Gods, and the Necronimicon. He died shortly after.
