(09-01) 08:10 PDT Palos Heights, Ill. (AP) -- The top-selling Bible in North America is undergoing its first revision in 25 years. The update to the New International Version, the Bible of choice for conservative evangelicals, promises to reopen a contentious debate about changing gender terms in the sacred text. The revision is scheduled to be completed late next year and published in 2011, officials said Tuesday. Past attempts to remake the NIV for contemporary audiences have been plagued by controversies about gender language. Supporters say such changes are more accurate and make the Bible more accessible, but critics contend they twist meaning or smack of political correctness. If they would only translate "eternal", "everlasting" etc, and "hell" the right way. But noooooo! Cant have that. It's a great tool for controlling people, keeping them in line. They need to play silly little PC games with gender issues that aren't issues at all. .

I found this reply on another forum that prompted a good chuckle: I mean any book with all that sex, incest, bestiality and death deserves as much warning as say a Nine Inch Nails recording. Never swear "allegiance" to anything other than the 'right to change your mind'!
Agreed. NIN is hollywood though. It's just an act. .

I bet money they go after these verses in the NIV. With all the doctrinal schisms going on and widespread abandonment of God's word, they have to drag the Bible down with them. I will stick to the King James Version, thank you very much.
You have good sense. The current NIV is full of bad stuff. One quick example. In the NIV it says to be angry is a sin. In the NIV it also says that Jesus was angry. So much for Gods perfect word. In King James it is correct. To be angry without cause is a sin. I'm with you. Stick with the King James.
