Title: Middle-Aged Secessionist Lady From Texas Will Launch Bloody War For Her Freedom

The secessionist losers in Texas held a major rally (like 2 people) in front of the state Capitol this past weekend, but whither be leader Rick Perry and his 70 pretend-secessionist allies from the state legislature? Apparently they were all busy doing… let’s see… anything else. But the Texas Observer was there to cover the madness and met some interesting “Real Americans,” who at one point very patriotically shouted, “we hate the United States.”

Our favorite is the second speaker — a Paultard lady — saying, “We are aware that stepping off into secession may in fact be a bloody war.” Yes, there will be much blood when a few F-18s utterly obliterate your new country’s infrastructure and murder most of its population before lunchtime.

Sure buddy! There is noone who flies an F-18 that might think like us eh!

I'd be willing to bet that it would go the other way as well.

Carrying out fighter sorties is a lot more complicated than convincing one pilot. Organizing infantry would be easier, but would still lack armored units.

You would need a significant portion of the air force to join you guys. You'd need mechanics, pilots, radar operators, anti-air-craft missiles, and a massive supply chain. And unlike the first civil war, the entire military, top down, including national guard is federalized. And even during the civil war the South was constantly having supply, and arms issues. They would have won if they had half the supplies the Union had.

The only way is to get the entire chain of command on your side all at once. That would require the government doing something so outrageous that it would convince the military to have a coup.

If the US gets a tyranny it will not happen by coup but by a steady accumulation of power. There won't be one single incident that marks the transition from republic to dictatorship, but a stead stream of small ones.

This is already underway and has been.Where have you been? You'd also be surprised what us old boys can do. I've been pullin wrenches since I was a kid. No, Noone else has any capability other than the gov.?

Don't confuse us with the created part of our society that is trained to do one thing. There are many of us who can innovate.

You aren't going to innovate yourself into f-18 maintenance, its not like fixing your 1974 dodge pickup. And you certainly aren't going to produce munitions for it. Though you'd probably be able to make fuel for it.

Most countries on earth can't even keep a decent air force in the sky. Iran for example has F-14's that they don't get parts for and they can't fly them, and that was after being trained by the manufactures in maintenance, and given a stockpile of spare parts.

Any revolution would either have to be a sudden coup, or use insurgent tactics. You won't see a neconfederate dog fighting a Republic fighterplane.

And even insurgent tactics won't be successful in the long term because the US electronics surveillance is too good.

If you start a revolution you better make damn sure you have total victory in a week otherwise we'll just end up with a Stalin who promises to protect us from "right wing terrorists".

But we all know you guys are just blowing hot air. Whatever its fun to argue hypotheticals anyway.

So, how are things going in Afghanistan these days?

Those guys fended off the Soviets with Enfield .303 bolt action rifles and some c-rations. :) They're doing pretty much the same against the U.S. as well.

Its as if fighter planes and Abrams tanks aren't the only factor. Weird.

But we all know you guys are just blowing hot air.

Maybe on this thread, perhaps. Real life is seeing some actual escalation though. It's one thing to dis members of the 105th Keyboard Division, but quite another when you notice folks showing up armed at government sponsored meetings.

They are killing our soldiers are a fair slow rate. We can't ever stop them, but we can forever hold Afghanistan. It just becomes a question of is Afghanistan worth holding, and thats a big fat no. But the Feds can't retreat from the US.

But the Taliban holds no area. The coalition forces can drop in anywhere in the entire country and hold it for as long as they like.

And the number of Taliban dying compared to NATO troops is 10-1 at least. A bunch of fundie Muslims might take those odds, but most Americans value their lives. The first generation of rebels will ALL die.

>Its as if fighter planes and Abrams tanks aren't the only factor. Weird.

You can survive as a resistance without them, but you'll never hold territory without modern armor and air support.

We might have a few terrorist attacks like the Oklahoma City Bombings, Anthrax attacks or Olympic Park Bombings by far right extremists, but you'll never get the raw number you'd need for a revolt.

Most of these people are just angry republicans. You'll notice how the entire anti-government conservative movement (militias and the like) disappeared the movement Bush got elected? They aren't against government, or for liberty, they are against democrats. And most of them are no where near stupid enough to try anything.

Though it would be ironic for some of these wack-jobs to get caught by the same homeland security they called everyone else traitors for opposing.

Having attended a tea party or two, it's not just a Republican thing. I know that's the perception that's being presented, but it's more than that.
