Title: Middle-Aged Secessionist Lady From Texas Will Launch Bloody War For Her Freedom

The secessionist losers in Texas held a major rally (like 2 people) in front of the state Capitol this past weekend, but whither be leader Rick Perry and his 70 pretend-secessionist allies from the state legislature? Apparently they were all busy doing… let’s see… anything else. But the Texas Observer was there to cover the madness and met some interesting “Real Americans,” who at one point very patriotically shouted, “we hate the United States.”

Our favorite is the second speaker — a Paultard lady — saying, “We are aware that stepping off into secession may in fact be a bloody war.” Yes, there will be much blood when a few F-18s utterly obliterate your new country’s infrastructure and murder most of its population before lunchtime.

Sure buddy! There is noone who flies an F-18 that might think like us eh!

I'd be willing to bet that it would go the other way as well.

Carrying out fighter sorties is a lot more complicated than convincing one pilot. Organizing infantry would be easier, but would still lack armored units.

You would need a significant portion of the air force to join you guys. You'd need mechanics, pilots, radar operators, anti-air-craft missiles, and a massive supply chain. And unlike the first civil war, the entire military, top down, including national guard is federalized. And even during the civil war the South was constantly having supply, and arms issues. They would have won if they had half the supplies the Union had.

The only way is to get the entire chain of command on your side all at once. That would require the government doing something so outrageous that it would convince the military to have a coup.

If the US gets a tyranny it will not happen by coup but by a steady accumulation of power. There won't be one single incident that marks the transition from republic to dictatorship, but a stead stream of small ones.

This is already underway and has been.Where have you been? You'd also be surprised what us old boys can do. I've been pullin wrenches since I was a kid. No, Noone else has any capability other than the gov.?

Don't confuse us with the created part of our society that is trained to do one thing. There are many of us who can innovate.

You aren't going to innovate yourself into f-18 maintenance, its not like fixing your 1974 dodge pickup. And you certainly aren't going to produce munitions for it. Though you'd probably be able to make fuel for it.

Most countries on earth can't even keep a decent air force in the sky. Iran for example has F-14's that they don't get parts for and they can't fly them, and that was after being trained by the manufactures in maintenance, and given a stockpile of spare parts.

Any revolution would either have to be a sudden coup, or use insurgent tactics. You won't see a neconfederate dog fighting a Republic fighterplane.

And even insurgent tactics won't be successful in the long term because the US electronics surveillance is too good.

If you start a revolution you better make damn sure you have total victory in a week otherwise we'll just end up with a Stalin who promises to protect us from "right wing terrorists".

But we all know you guys are just blowing hot air. Whatever its fun to argue hypotheticals anyway.

I think you'd be surprised at what could be accomplished.

There are trained military vets from several wars that are still alive. They have been trained and can train us.

Your position makes me feel like I should bow my head and accept anything they wish to force upon me. But I feel if this was the other way around you'd be the one protesting. Am I wrong?

Well, the America I grew up in was much different. I'd rather die then live under tyranny. What many of these people don't understand is that is exactly what we feel!

You assume the government would let you congregate. The feds already have agents in right wing groups. And if things actually got violent, more would join. The government has the ability to monitor phones, and the internet, and during a revolution they'd do it openly, and without any courts stopping them. They'd be constitutionally able to suspend habaes corpus and detain suspected rebels.

They could data mine servers like this, find out exactly who you are, and simply arrest you at home.

A revolution would be hell for America. It may come a time when its necessary, but we can still vote. If you can't even get 2% of the country to vote for your candidates, do you think you are going to rally them in a war?

Your position makes me feel like I should bow my head and accept anything they wish to force upon me.

You don't have to, you can declare war on them, but you'll be dead or in jail. Those are just the facts. Having a fantasy about revenge is silly because it discourages from doing things that actually could make a difference like real political activism. Threatening revolution makes you a crazy mother fucker to 80% of the country.

But I feel if this was the other way around you'd be the one protesting. Am I wrong?

I wouldn't get violent until all other options were exhausted and if I'd rather be dead than live in my situation. And even then, only if I thought I could actually make a difference. Otherwise I'd just be killing some dumbass jarhead who was just following orders.

Well, the America I grew up in was much different.

I doubt it. You don't think corporate interests have always ran this nation? In 1965 we had race riots because we treated people differently based on their race, we were being a stupid war in Vietnam, tax rates were much higher, regulations on business were actually stricter, the FBI was spying on people left and right, it looked like we'd get into nuclear war in the Soviet Union, countries like Japan were growing economically, and hippies were going to turn America into a godless wasteland of filth.

A generation before that we had a depression and thought the country would literally waste away and then got involved in the worst war in history.

A generation before that corporations were literally writing laws (like they do today) were swallowing up farm land. The American people were turning from a rural people, to a bunch of factory drones.

Two generations before that we killed each other over slavery and tarrifs.

Do I need to keep going back?

Sounds like the more things change the more they stay the same. Every generation thinks it the end of the world, and it hasn't been yet.

The fact is Americans live long prosperous lives. Times are good. Could they be better? Sure. Should be work for that sure! But be thankful for what you got.
