Pat Robertson, host of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club and founder of the Christian Coalition of America, called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

From the August 22 broadcast of The 700 Club:

ROBERTSON: There was a popular coup that overthrew him [Chavez]. And what did the United States State Department do about it? Virtually nothing. And as a result, within about 48 hours that coup was broken; Chavez was back in power, but we had a chance to move in. He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he's going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.

You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. And I don't think any oil shipments will stop. But this man is a terrific danger and the United ... This is in our sphere of influence, so we can't let this happen. We have the Monroe Doctrine, we have other doctrines that we have announced. And without question, this is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us very badly. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.

An online poll asking if he went too far serves Robertson's interests by lending credibility to his ideas. The no answer is an immoral choice while the yes answer is the moral choice. The poll makes the immoral choice equivalent in a general way to the moral choice. Just a thought.

As a comparison, let's assume that Robertson was calling for the assassination of of Ariel Sharon- or ANY Jew for that matter. The media would never allow the consumer to make a choice whether it was moral or not. There would certainly be no poll legitimizing a call for murder in that case. Can you imagine it? Did Rob go too far in calling for the assassination of a Jewish leader? The media would never allow it. It would never legitimize the call for murder as simply a choice for Americans to make.

The media would portray the call for a Jew's murder as immoral. Every Jewish org would be on it, making sure no media source dared legitimize a call for murder of an official of a sov nation. Rob would be hammered for inciting hatred amongst his followers by supporting the murder of a Jew. All of the articles in the media would be nothing more then the ADL's press release adapted for each media source. We've all seen this before, the templates the media uses when Jewish interests are threatened. And Robertson would be attacked with all the collective power the Jews could leverage.

So we see how corrupt the media is in legitimizing the indefensible as simply a choice in a poll. The issue is a non starter, but the media will portray it as a valid issue to be debated. The call of a religious leader to murder the elected pres of a sov, Dem nation should be portrayed as off the wall and not worthy of consideration as a legitimate issue. The poll serves only the interests of the neocons.

Robertson is acting as an an agent of the neocon establishment in this matter. The issue is a way to legitimize an evil act. After all, a man of God is promoting it. It also rallies the rapture monkey base to support the cause and engage in a national debate about an issue which deserves no debate in a nation such as the US. Robertson has legitimized the illegitimate.

When you ask the cui bono question, there is only one answer- the neocons. Therefore, Robertson is acting as an agent of the neocons.
