Title: (Pat) Robertson called for the assassination of Venezuela's president

Pat Robertson, host of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club and founder of the Christian Coalition of America, called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

From the August 22 broadcast of The 700 Club:

ROBERTSON: There was a popular coup that overthrew him [Chavez]. And what did the United States State Department do about it? Virtually nothing. And as a result, within about 48 hours that coup was broken; Chavez was back in power, but we had a chance to move in. He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he's going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.

You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. And I don't think any oil shipments will stop. But this man is a terrific danger and the United ... This is in our sphere of influence, so we can't let this happen. We have the Monroe Doctrine, we have other doctrines that we have announced. And without question, this is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us very badly. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.

I'm picturing a lifeboat with several people in it. One of those people is grotesquely obese, weighing as much as any three other passengers, who uses up as much water as everyone else per day. Soon the passengers discover there is only so much water left, and the giant lardo proves astonishingly willing to use every means of force and treachery to take every drop he can get. I wonder what the odds are that one day Mr. Stretchpants is going to wake up to a pipe wrench buried in his skull?

At some point, if we are in fact running out of oil, the rest of the world just might decide that they'd rather live twice as long with one less passenger on the liferaft...

Slight problem. Fatso is a light sleeper with a loaded .44 Mag in each hand and has no problems shooting anyone who gets between him and the water or anyone who tries to heave him overboard. As the days wear on he also becomes less and less concerned about hitting the boat hull (collateral damage) if he goes on a shooting spree.

Then there's that chinese guy on the other side of the boat with a snub nose 38 and a growing thirst as well.

That's a fact. Chavez has done only good for all of the peasants, at least as much as he has been able. The economy in Venezuela is the best that it's been for the average Venezuelan in years. I'm no fan of socialism, but Chavez is no Castro and his brand of socialism is closer to populism than anything going. The plutocrats don't like it because they have been cut out of the profit loop.

This could spread throughout South America.

The next move will be either against Iran, which seems more doubtful as time passes, or something brewing in South America. Maybe as Bob Chapman suggests, if Evo Morales wins the election in Bolivia, the U.S. may move to gain control of the gas fields there. Morales is intensely popular among the working classes. And he would likely institute reforms similar to Chavez. Already 50% of the taxes on Bolivian natural resources production is earmarked for the benefit of the people. The taxes (royalties) would likely be increased by Morales and privatization stopped dead in its tracks.

I know of a horror story of the privatization of Bolivia's water supplies. The corporations bought them up and immediately tripled the prices charged to the peasants. Within weeks the people took to the streets by the hundreds of thousands. Needless to say, the Bolivian gov't reversed its decision and revoked the contracts.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- Venezuela's oil company opened an office in China, a client that is becoming increasingly important to this oil-rich country, the state news agency reported Monday.

Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez, who is visiting China, told the Bolivarian News Agency the new office in Beijing would serve as a "bastion for forging relations with new strategic partners."

He's certainly misled a lot of people. Robertson should be thinking about millstones.

From http://Patridiots.com:

Should Ministers Be Advocating Murder?

First alleged Christian Jimmy Swaggert says that if a gay man looked at him funny he'd murder the guy and then "tell God he died."

Now alleged Christian Pat Robertson is advocating the murder of a democratically elected foreign head of state, President Hugo Chavez of Venezuella.

I call these two idiots "alleged Christians" because right up there in the 10 Commandments -- it's number six -- is "Thou Shalt Not Kill."

And in case they aren't interested in the whole Old Testament thing, how about the updated version of this commandment?

Matthew 5:21 You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.'

22 But I say to you, whoever is angry 18 with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, 'You fool,' will be liable to fiery Gehenna.

23 Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you,

24 leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

That last line is pretty important. Jesus -- the Son of God -- is the one who would be receiving a gift given at an altar. He says that if you are angry with your brother and wish him ill will (like, say, wanting to murder him?) then Jesus doesn't want you to make that gift.

Jesus is so disgusted with people like Swaggart and Robinson that he won't even accept tribute or gifts from them.

An online poll asking if he went too far serves Robertson's interests by lending credibility to his ideas. The no answer is an immoral choice while the yes answer is the moral choice. The poll makes the immoral choice equivalent in a general way to the moral choice. Just a thought.

As a comparison, let's assume that Robertson was calling for the assassination of of Ariel Sharon- or ANY Jew for that matter. The media would never allow the consumer to make a choice whether it was moral or not. There would certainly be no poll legitimizing a call for murder in that case. Can you imagine it? Did Rob go too far in calling for the assassination of a Jewish leader? The media would never allow it. It would never legitimize the call for murder as simply a choice for Americans to make.

The media would portray the call for a Jew's murder as immoral. Every Jewish org would be on it, making sure no media source dared legitimize a call for murder of an official of a sov nation. Rob would be hammered for inciting hatred amongst his followers by supporting the murder of a Jew. All of the articles in the media would be nothing more then the ADL's press release adapted for each media source. We've all seen this before, the templates the media uses when Jewish interests are threatened. And Robertson would be attacked with all the collective power the Jews could leverage.

So we see how corrupt the media is in legitimizing the indefensible as simply a choice in a poll. The issue is a non starter, but the media will portray it as a valid issue to be debated. The call of a religious leader to murder the elected pres of a sov, Dem nation should be portrayed as off the wall and not worthy of consideration as a legitimate issue. The poll serves only the interests of the neocons.

Why is it anti-semitic to recognize the counterproductive nature of an alliance with Israel that emboldens them to recklessly oppress Palestinians? Robertson is acting as an an agent of the neocon establishment in this matter. The issue is a way to legitimize an evil act. After all, a man of God is promoting it. It also rallies the rapture monkey base to support the cause and engage in a national debate about an issue which deserves no debate in a nation such as the US. Robertson has legitimized the illegitimate.

When you ask the cui bono question, there is only one answer- the neocons. Therefore, Robertson is acting as an agent of the neocons.

I knew that this idea of preemptive actions against people or countries was crappy from the git-go, and was going to be hard to turn off once it got started. You can't justly punish someone for something that they MIGHT do.

To make matters worse, the people deciding who needs to be preempted are clearly insane and flailing about wildly and randomly, like a downed high-voltage power line, destroying everything that they touch.

He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he's going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.

Pat Robertson is a non-sensical anti-American Zionist agent.

Chevez is no Muslim. Chavez quotes the Bible in his speeches:

"The former colonel", he continues, "likes to spice his often lengthy and unusual speeches with quotes from the Bible, French poets, military overtones and repeated references to South America’s independence hero Simon Bolivar, who [he] claims his inspiration".

http://www.analit ica.com/constituyente/opinion/o19.asp

Robertson is nothing but a AIPAC/Israel/Big federal government shill who holds sway over legions of braindead sociopaths so stupid that they will Fed-Ex him cash when he starts boo-hooing on camera. Robertson's new God is Israel and he bashes Islam 24/7.

Could you just imagine the howls over at FR and LP if a leading Muslim cleric called for the assasination of the meddlesome and violent leader of a particular foreign country?

Dr. Condoleezza Rice said that the “security of Israel is the key to security of the world.”
