Former Democratic House Rep. Jim Traficant, recently freed after a seven-year stint in prison, told supporters that the government “had to cheat” to secure a conviction in his 2002 corruption trial.

“The powerful enemies that I have — I’ll just say this to you: they had to cheat to convict me,” Traficant, who represented Ohio’s 17th congressional district until his conviction, told an audience in Boardman, Ohio.

He was released from prison on September 2, after serving a seven-year sentence on charges of racketeering, taking bribes and filing false tax statements.

Traficant told the crowd he would make “significant statements” on Fox News’ On the Record with Greta van Susteren this coming Friday.

In a speech sprinkled liberally with populist declarations — “America must take their government back” — Traficant implied that witnesses in his 2002 trial were pressured by the government to testify against him. He claimed that, in one case, a potential witness was told his parents would be deported to Nigeria if he didn’t testify. The individual, whom Traficant did not name, refused to testify and was deported to Nigeria himself, according to Traficant.

He said authorities were intent on convicting him because of his 1983 trial on corruption charges, in which he defended himself and said his bribery and racketeering activities were part of a sting operation. He was acquitted of the 1983 charges.

“They couldn’t live with that 1983 verdict,” he said.

According to the northeast Ohio newspaper The Vindicator, 1,200 people showed up to a banquet hall to hear Traficant’s speech.

The Associated Press reports that Traficant said he would continue to fight for John Demjanjuk, the Ohio resident who was recently deported to Germany to face war crimes charges. Holocaust survivors have identified Demjanjuk as “Ivan the Terrible,” a Nazi concentration camp guard.

The Associated Press reports that Traficant said he would continue to fight for John Demjanjuk, the Ohio resident who was recently deported to Germany to face war crimes charges.

Haven't heard that before. I wonder if that had any bearing on his legal troubles.

Born in the Ukraine during the Polish–Soviet War (when territories in Ukraine quickly changed hands), Demjanjuk migrated to the United States in 1951. He was deported to Israel in 1986 and later sentenced to death there in 1988 for war crimes, based on his identification by Israeli Holocaust survivors as "Ivan the Terrible," a notorious SS guard at the Treblinka and Sobibor extermination camps during the period 1942–1943 who committed murder and acts of extraordinarily savage violence against camp prisoners. His conviction for crimes against humanity was later overturned by Israel's highest court in 1993 due to a finding of reasonable doubt based on evidence suggesting that Demjanjuk was not "Ivan the Terrible" and had, in fact, been a guard at camps besides the one at Treblinka.[3] After the trial, he was returned to Cleveland, Ohio. He eventually moved to nearby Seven Hills, Ohio.

Good lord, will someone please buy that poor guy an actual toupee? Or a wig? Or something? Or, maybe he should just go for the chrome-dome look. Something, anything. Jeez.

You know, I live in an area with a lot of marmots. Poor, homeless marmots, with no job prospects or way to make a living for themselves. You'd think maybe Jim could give one a job as his new headpiece?

This ought to help you understand why Jim Traficant was a target of our corrupt government and the jews who have infiltrated it. I posted this back in 2008.

There was a retired immigrant autoworker by the name of John Demjanjuk who lived in Cleveland, Ohio. He fought extradition to Israel for war crimes. Israel claimed he was the notorious concentration guard called Ivan the terrible.

The neocons caved in to the jews and extradited Demjanjuk to Israel for trial. A trial that ran a course about like the one Jim Traficant got. If it hadn't been for Jim Traficant, John Demjanjuk would have been convicted and executed. They practicly had him convicted before trial- like in the media and with false evidence. Jim Traficant supported and defended Demjanjuk forcing Israel to look at all the evidence. Demjanjuk was found not to be Ivan the Terrible and came back home to Cleveland with Traficant. And John Demjanjuk wasn't a constituant of Jim Trafficant.

That should tell everyone who reads this thread more than they need to know. The jews are still trying to draw up some other charges on Demjanjuk. At least Jim Traficant was able to see true justice carried out in Israel, something that we don't see here in the U.S. very often.
