Britain Not Welcome

Via ThinkProgress comes the news that San Francisco radio station 910 KNEW has dropped conservative talk-show host Michael Savage from its lineup. KNEW, which was Savage's "flagship station" dropped the righty talker in favor of "John and Ken," who the station manager reliably informs listeners are just as good as "Armstrong and Getty," whatever that means.

From KNEW's blog:

I'm going to answer the very first question many of you have.

"Why did you take Michael Savage off the air?"

Here's your no-spin direct answer; we have decided to go in a different philosophical and ideological direction, featuring more contemporary content and more local information. The Savage Nation does not fit into that vision.

You can take a look at KNEW's revised lineup, here. As usual, I'll point out that this has nothing to do with the "Fairness Doctrine."

The San Francisco Chronicle attempted to reach Savage for comment. It went about as well as you might expect:

So we called Michael to ask him what's up. His response: "Why don't you call Mao Zedong? He's your boss."

After we stopped laughing, we called back, noted that Mao is still dead and asked for a call back. Until we get one, we'll be reading our favorite little red book.

Don't worry about Michael -- for those of you who are. Not only are his ratings strong across the country, he's already called at least one San Francisco station Thursday, presumably in search for a new home.

Sounds like he's going to have to do what other failed political radio commentators do, and get elected to the Senate.

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Yawn.

What Michael Savage Wiener is doing or not doing is a matter of total indifference to me. He is just another radio PsyOperator.

He's still syndicated it's just that KNEW dropped the show. He originally started with KSFO. God knows THEY could use a new lineup. Limbaugh, Hannity and infomercials seems to be their current theme.

I was just looking for a good excuse to harpoon Al Franken. :)

He does have his own spin though and occasionally he ventures into the scientific realm.

I still think of Franken as SNL, as I never listened to Herr America.

I'm sure Doctor Savage is elated that he no longer is associated with a town that replaced Rice-A-Roni with Dykes-On-Bikes.

Why would he be elated when SF made him what he is today.

What he is today is an oracle informing the world that SF is a fag infested shit hole that caters to the low-lifes of society and illegals. He rags on the UN-AMERICAN JEWS like Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer, Nadler, Waxman, Ginsberg, Souter, Greenscum, Bernanke, Blitzer, ... the gun grabbing kikes marching to the orders of Abe Foxman and the AIPAC back door financing committee.

I disagree with Savage on the existence of the State of Israel. I think it should be wiped off the face of the earth ASAP.

The U.S. Govt is a tyrannical butcher; U.S. taxpayers are accomplices to international murder and mayhem. If you satisfy your fears by bowing to this butcher, you forfeit your humanity for a pound of flesh.

Yawn

It is what it is, but it's a pitiful day when Americans take delight in the silencing of any radio, media outlet. Savage has been banned from Britain & now silenced in San Fran. As a listener to alternative media, it's no skin off of my nose, but I see storm clouds gathering. I'm sure others on this forum do also. I for one won't celebrate the silencing of anyone for anything.

It would be my hope that the reason is because of declining listenership

Why would a San Francisco station keep Savage on the air when his ratings in the local market are not all that wonderful. Radio is a business, not a service.

Because that's censorship.

When someone who isn't a total right wing wack job gets dropped, that's the market working properly.
