So there you have it, direct from the wide world of sports; take the shot and go down sick. When I found out last night I immediately took Temple with 30 points, and I also bet $50 on the under since it looks like the water boy will be the starting quarterback and Temple is one step above high school level. These are young, healthy kids who became sick after after testing a vaccine for our paranoid, psychotic government. I just hit the Immune Assist, D3, and camu-camu. I fear no bug!

Illness hits Lions before Temple game

By Derek Levarse dlevarse@timesleader.com Sports Reporter

Penn State has had little trouble with Temple in the past three years. Outside forces could make the fourth game much trickier.

An unidentified illness has swept through the Nittany Lions' locker room this week and disrupted practice leading up to today's game against the Owls, according to defensive coordinator Tom Bradley.

"We've had a bunch of kids sick this week, we've had as many as 15," Bradley said Friday on a weekly segment with ESPN Radio 1250 in Pittsburgh. "So we're just being extra careful and cautious. We had about 18 guys miss practice (Thursday) from whatever kind of flu it is. And I know our doctors are on top of it, just trying to be really cautious."

As of Friday night, it was unclear if any players would be held out for the Temple game as a result of the bug.

With recent global concerns over the spread of the H1N1 virus -- also known as swine flu -- sports teams across the country have taken precautionary measures

Bradley said Penn State coaches and players received basic flu shots last Sunday, especially after reports of other major college teams being severely affected.

Last week, both Wisconsin and Mississippi had a combined 40 players forced off the field because of swine flu symptoms.

Georgia, Washington State, Duke and Tulane have also been hit by the bug in the first month of the season.

The fear isn't as much about players playing or practicing while sick, but spreading the ailment to others.

"It scares us to death," Texas coach Mack Brown told The Associated Press.

Bradley said none of the Penn State cases have been identified as swine flu, but under-the-weather players have been held out as a precaution.

"Some it's been a couple days, some a day, but the doctors are just not sure what it is yet, so they're being so cautious and just getting them out and getting them away from everybody rather than risk that it may be (swine flu)," Bradley said. "Our doctors are working very hard this week."
