Tom Coburn (R-OK), has an interesting theory: If you tell little boys that looking at pornography will make them gay, maybe they won't want a copy of Playboy. Schwartz attempted to explain this claim during a pep talk on "the new masculinity" at the Values Voter Conference last week, reported ThinkProgress. During his presentation, Schwartz asserted that all the pre-adolescent boys he has been associated with "speak badly" about homosexuality, which he implied to be somehow positive. He added that a friend of his once claimed that all pornography is homosexual, because it turns one's sexual urges "inwards." Here's an excerpt from The Washington Independent: Pornography is a blight... It is a disaster. It is one of those silent diseases in our society that we havent been able to overcome very well. Now, I may be getting politically incorrect here. And its been a few years, but not that many, since I was closely associated with pre-adolescent boys, boys around 10 years of age. But it is my observation that boys of that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than just about any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality. And thats because they dont want to be that way. They dont want to fall into it. Schwartz told the crowd about Jim Johnson, a friend of his who turned an old hotel into a hospice for gay men dying of AIDS. One of the things he said to me, said Schwartz, that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark
he said All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards. There were murmurs and gasps from the crowd. Now, think about that, said Schwartz. And if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think hes going to want to get a copy of Playboy? Im pretty sure hell lose interest. Thats the last thing he wants! You know, thats a good comment, its a good point, and its a good thing to teach young people. ThinkProgress added: Schwartz is no stranger to extreme rhetoric about the gay community. In 2005, he denounced the Supreme Court for giving Americans the right to commit buggery. Later, he told Max Blumenthal, Im a radical! Im a real extremist. I dont want to impeach judges. I want to impale them! In 1987, Schwartz co-wrote Gays, AIDS, and You, which according to Blumenthal, alleged that the gay community was using the AIDS crisis to pursue [their] political agenda. Watch Schwartz attempt his spiel, below (h/t TalkingPointsMemo): -- Stephen C. Webster

He can't be all bad if he says things like this.
Obviously this guy hasn't been following the Hal Turner indictment, eh?
