LOL Dillo, I might have known.

"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." --Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791

Not a bad idea at all.

I'm totally beat.

The day was spent orienting ladies to shoot handguns 2Asisters.org - out in the Hill Country of CenTex.

We started the newbies on .22's and by session's end they were blasting away with .40 and .45's - it was great.

Twenty-four more patriots have taken their first step toward protecting themselves, their families, and their property.

WF - it really was great.

A couple came down from SD with more handguns than a pawn shop to use. All kinds of good sandwiches, fruit and veggie plates, cc cookies, all kinds of eats, and then the training/shooting, it was wonderful.

It was so great to see the ladies who had never even held a handgun, carefully roll up their targets to take home. They were deadly, and they loved it.

I had way, way too much fresh air today.

Thanks. It's a 72 sportster that I resurrected from the extremely dead about 10 years ago.

That was at the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association Fall Round-Up in Heath, MA, a couple of weeks ago. It rained all day Friday and Saturday so it was a bit of a washout. Usually it's a great party. This year it was kinda quiet. I ended up catching a flu or something, from getting very cold and wet riding up there on Friday in the rain.

Rain or not, there was no way I was missing that one.

I love to ride. I live in VA and did 4300 miles last year, round trip to Sturgis. I did Key West Florida this year and then stopped by bike week at Daytona. Nothing quite compares. I did the Sportster thing for years, they are great bikes. Here's the new ride...almost got to make a run out to Colorado and then hit the Grand Canyon last month...it just didn't work out. I'd like to take about 6 months and just ride all over the country...before it really hits the fan. Photobucket

Have you ever considered teaching them how to use a .357 Revolver? Most newbies don't know how to clear a jam and if they do are going to be too damn scared in a real life situation to do it quickly and calmly.

Paxton Quigley, the adorable and deadly author of "Armed And Female", reccomends the "Ladysmith" .357 - with Pearl or Ivory Handles of course. ;-)

Several of the older ladies have trouble racking the slide on an auto-loader, so revolvers are their choice to carry.

The 2004 Black Harley Trike looks like it would fill the bill. It even has room for my tackle box. Although it would take some figuring for my 13' float road - even broken down into 3 pieces.

Thanks - I'm glad Paxton thought of it.

That would probably be a good carry on the trike as well. Although I wish I had that Mahogany Handled Magnum that I learned to shoot with. I have to laugh that got me to thinking about my dad practicing his "quick draw" with it - he got ahead of himself and put a round about 2 inches from his foot. He was a little more careful after that. ;-)

It's ALL good as long as it has 2 wheels. You have a great looking bike, ride it till the wheels come off. I do a lot of long distance stuff and the extra weight makes doing 400-600 miles a day much easier. I've had 2 sporties, a '72 and a 2002...both were great bikes and I really enjoyed them, in fact, I wish I still had them both. People that don't ride have a hard time understanding those of us that do...there's nothing like it.

Never did the crotch rocket thing...I enjoy riding long distance to much. I'll never put down enother man's choice in bikes, everyone has a preferance. It's all about being on 2 wheels, not riding around in a cage. Stay safe and keep it in the wind.

The fail-proof nature of the revolver has much to recommend it.

I took some new McCormick mags out and for whatever reason the hulls were not extracting half the time, and the .45ACP revolver using moonclips was not firing all the rounds. This was all using some rather inexpensive re-loads so I don't know if that was the problem or not.

I guess that some Winchester Ranger rounds might have to be used to see how that goes.

Pretty crappy feeling to squeeze the trigger and zilch happens.
