A 19-year-old Miami University student allegedly told police she had been swerving her vehicle between lanes on College Corner Pike because she thought it was funny.
Police said the car was seen traveling northbound on College Corner Pike at around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 19. The car was allegedly driving in excess of the posted 35 mph speed limit and swerved from curb to curb several times.
Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who said her erratic driving was meant to be funny. She reportedly had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and admitted to consuming a couple of shots of vodka and a couple of beers at a party before driving.
The driver was asked to perform several field sobriety tests and, while receiving instructions on a one-legged stand, asked officers Are you (expletive) kidding me? She was placed under arrest and taken to the Oxford Police Department, where she blew a 0.26 BAC.
Casey Baker Ellerman, 335 Hepburn Hall, was charged with OVI, offenses involving underage persons and willful or wanton disregard for safety and was transported to her residence hall.
