one more to cheer us up, and remind us of why God gave us our pets - though they leave us way, way too soon.

If it had been in my personal power, I would have murdered that cat when it was conceived.

That's just wrong...and I've never owned a cat.

I pity you.

Good grief, who whizzed in your Wheaties this morning? Christine has just suffered a very painful loss of a good pet and companion for the last twenty years. What the heck is wrong with you?

Normally I'd suggest contacting the charm school you attended and demand a refund, but in your case I think it would be more appropriate to sue them for malpractice...

In defense of Bucky, aka "US_GRANT," he must be in great pain himself to have made his (ahem) comment...

Then again some people resent grief over pets or animals that they believe should be reserved only for humans - maybe that was the case as well.

FWIW, I don't believe you meant what you said, Buck.

It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." --Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1791

Oliver was family, only nicer. He gave you both unconditional love and unless someone experiences that, it can't be explained adequately. Having lost the best Golden Retriever god ever put on this planet, I can empathize with you and Bill. Today will be the worst day you experience, as time is the only remedy for the pain you feel. Nobody knows the time or place when the end comes, but Oliver left today at home with his family present. That will comfort you as the weeks turn to months. Peace Oliver, and say hello for Cody for me.

I don't know "what is wrong" about my post other than cats piss and shit all over property. They stink and are not clean. And, like yourself, I have never owned any and wouldn't consider ownership except to send them to China where cats are used as a daily human diet.

Don't give me any further grief about someone's dtinly, dead cat. I despise cats. As I said in my first post on this thread, I would have murdered the goddamned animal at conception. It would have been suffocated in a burlap bag and never seen the light of the Sun, along with the rest of it's catery.

Those damned animals stink! I find it amazing that some people allow them in their homes ... like a rat.

Thanks for sticking up for me.

BTW, I have a few burlap bags available for murdering cats. Here is how we do it: step 1) place the goddamned creatures into the bag. step 2) place the bag into a barrow of water. step 3) after five or so minutes, pull the bag out and throw it in the trash.

No mess ... no fuss... what-so-ever!

My sympathies, Oliver reminds me of my own little monster mutt.

In 2007, the FBI reported on concern about white supremacists recruiting soldiers, saying "hundreds" of neo-Nazis were in the active military. But in April, a Department of Homeland Security report on extremism that reiterated much the same point was widely criticized by veterans groups and some conservative politicians as being unpatriotic, leading the Justice Department to retract the DHS report.

Critics acknowledge that extremism in the Army is a touchy political subject.

What? You want a dead-cat thread? Lets see now ....

Why are dead cats fatter than live cats?

The live cats are the ones that can run faster than dogs.

Why was nearsightedness fatal for the dead cat?

He thought he was climbing onto an ottoman, and it turned out to be a sleeping Saint Bernard.

Why do we know there are a lot of dead cats in hell?

Because you aren't allowed to lick your hind end in heaven.

Why do so many dead cats have four broken legs?

That's what happens when you fall out of a hundred-foot tree, and land on your feet.

How do you know which cats have had near-death experiences?

They're the ones that have short tails, with a dog's teeth marks at the end.

When do you know that a cat has been dead for an hour or more?

When he doesn't have any saliva on his anus.

What were the last words heard by the dead cat?

"Look, Mama, that kitty is going into the doghouse."

Why do most cats die in the morning?

Because most dogs sleep in the afternoon.

What was the practical joke that the dogs played on the dead cat on a windy day?

They put vodka in his milk, then chased him up an aspen tree.

Why do cats get fatigued when they commit suicide?

Because they have to do it nine times.

Why was the dead cat found with a charred tail, in the breakfast nook?

He didn't realize he could get his tail caught in the toaster.

“Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves.”
