We are a nation of immigrants, all born or came here to seek freedom and ability to live our lives as we see fit. Just being here, means this is the 'shining beacon on the hill' as former President John F. Kennedy once said. We don't tolerate fakery, we're kind to a fault, very trusting and forgiving, we have some of the best con men (and women) ever to walk on the face of the planet, and we can be very arrogant. One thing we are not, is stupid. I must also state there's a vast difference between the American people, and U.S. government - the two are not the same (more on this later) With all that in mind, it breaks my heart to see so many Americans coming up with (very good!) solutions to our (severe) economic problems. They are naive however, to what's really going on. The problem is there are people, around the world, and in the U.S. that REALLY control things. We've all heard of the "powerful and rich"; we know about political scandal and know it still exists; we realize that there's corruption everywhere; yet deep in our minds, America exists as we think it does - the land of the free, the home of the brave; and it does if we can revive it. We constantly hear so many good people from America and around the world coming up with good, sound, logical things that must be done now, to reverse the financial train wreck that's coming, the scandals, the torture, and the many other ills America faces today. They know that if we don't do something, the pain and tragedy will be unbearable, and everyone will suffer greatly. I too, have proposed many solutions, but I finally stopped doing so. Why? Because the politicians (which 'strangely' seem to always get re-elected...hmmmm...) aren't interested in solutions that make sense. This growing sense of inevitability and frustration is the genesis of the anger seen in Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings. The politicians are somewhat rattled, but think (based on what we've heard) this will all blow over, and Americans will go back to sleep. They have their own agenda's, their own self-interest, and the interests of the powerful interests from around the world to serve. The politicians aren't interested in your solutions - look at last year's bailout bill. Americans not only said "NO", they said "HELL NO" and the politicians passed it anyway (under threat of martial law). Americans got mad, but went back to sleep. The politicians allowed a new health care bill that strips us of our medical rights and puts life and death decisions in the hands of government, and the American people rose up and said "Hell No" to that in Town Meetings around the country. But, the politicians will ignore that too. The media, barely covers what's really going on, because they too, are compromised and controlled by the powerful interests through corporate ownership and government control (don't believe me, do your own research). We think it's also possible, that the powerful interests know Americans are getting angry, anticipated it, and have plans and contingencies for all possible outcomes (after all they are rich, powerful for a reason...) So, if we're so smart, so hard-working, so idealistic, why aren't things going better, and why isn't our government doing things that are "good" for the nation? If we aren't stupid, then there must be a reason our country is headed off a financial cliff, and has gone astray morally. There's only one answer. We propose that it's a combination of (1) politicians that somehow seem to always get re-elected (very suspicious), (2) politicians never met a tax dollar they didn't like - it's easier to spend YOUR money rather than their own, (3) Americans are so distracted and self-interested (pursuit of happiness?) with television (Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, CSI, etc.), sports, and simply making a living that we don't pay attention to what's really going on, (4) our media is controlled and manipulated to make sure Americans don't hear the truth (the internet has been a real thorn in the controllers' rear-end), and (5) our politicians are controlled by very powerful interests here and from around the world and know they'd better 'play ball'. Perhaps all this explains why so many of the problems in banking and the financial sector in the news today, are not being investigated with the fervor they deserve - in fact, it looks like a massive cover-up on a scale not seen since ancient Rome (and we know how that worked out...) The 'pursuit of happiness' is fine, but that famous document first says 'life' and 'liberty', then the 'pursuit of happiness' (in that order). With all this in mind, proposing reasonable, valid and heart-felt solutions will not (we're sorry to say) help. It won't help to "write your congressman" for the most part (their staff generally have nothing but contempt for the constituents). It (generally) won't help to protest, though that can, at the margins, force politicians to move a little bit (i.e. enough to "make it look good"), but for the most part, the 'fix' is in. We believe there are powerful interests, perhaps some that even helped fund the original American Revolution in 1776, that have put down deep, vast and thick roots into our country; roots that squeeze the life out of anything that dares to change things. We, the American people are not supposed to serve the government; it is supposed to serve us. When the government takes 50 percent of our income, ignores our petitions, and surreptitiously takes our freedoms, we are the servant, not the masters. Just ask yourself, how many people fear the IRS? How many movies have police or SWAT teams in them? How many people fear the police (who used to be 'peace officers' and now all wear black and look like SWAT people)? Trying to fix things now really isn't possible, and the American people are going to have to give up the "fun" distractions for a while, put away the 'toys' and self-interest, put on the "grownup pants", ask the tough questions, force the attorneys-general to bring indictments, run for office, form Grand Juries, demand accountability, demand the regulators get tough, the District Attorneys get to work, investigators get to work, and overall come up with a different way to get our nation back on the track we thought it was on all along. Until we, all of us, as a nation and a people take such actions and demand, and do these things, there are no solutions and our fate is sealed. Pray to Yahweh that we will find our way.
