I've had the privilege of speaking with Gunny Hathcock and his wife on the phone several times. And, when he passed away his wife sent me a packet of news clippings and other coverage of his remarkable career, and his funeral. When the time was right, I put the question to Hathcock: "Gunny, did Oswald fire three rounds at the Kennedy motorcade in 6 seconds?" "The FBI asked me the same question." he replied. "I set up the simulation and fired OSWALD'S RIFLE, and it couldn't be done!" The Gunnery Sergeant told me. This was the proof I needed. The events of 22 November, 1963 are the reason I am the way I am today. Even though I was just a voice on the phone to Carlos he was quite forthcoming in our chats, and I really liked and respected him.
When the time was right, I put the question to Hathcock: "Gunny, did Oswald fire three rounds at the Kennedy motorcade in 6 seconds?" "The FBI asked me the same question." he replied. I never bought the official line but if anyone should know what that rifle could do it would have been Carlos.
