In today's show Max Keiser suggested a new song we can use at Protest rallies. jump down, turn around. pick a bail of Bailouts based upon the classic jump down, turn around, pick a bail of cotton.

A bull frog can sing better than I do, but I can see possibilities here. I need your help. If you don't know anymore about music than I do, you can forward this or post it somewhere else where someone can write a new song. Every war needs a song. This could be ours. All I ask is that if you get a response on another forum that you forward it to me. Yhe lyrics to the original song are here:

jump down, turn around, pick a bail of cotton. jump down, turn around, pick a bail a day.

[chourus] oh lordy, pick a bail of coton. oh lordy, pick a bail a day

me and my wife, we pick a bail of cotton. me and my wife, we pick a bail a day.

[chorus]

me and my friend, we pick a bail of cotton. me and my friend, we pick a bail a day.

[chorus gettind faster every time]

Hardly a person alive that ever picked cotton by hand. Maybe none.

Agriculture is less than 3% of the population. You need something that speaks more to common experiences of modern people.

times is gettin' tough

and i find it's gettin' rougher

to get lined out on what i want to do

five years now i been laid off

and maybe i'm gettin' soft

but it's about time to look for somethin' new

.

and my baby... well she got fired

she says now she's gettin' tired

of the unemployment folks... they're gettin' kinda rude

now, the welfare aint too bad

but it aint as if we had

ever' little thing that we're accustomed to...

.

and you only get a forty-buck bag

what a drag

for sixty-five ...bucks of food stamps

yep, you only get a forty-buck bag

what a drag

for sixty-five mmm bucks of food stamps

now they're bailin' the big boys out

that's what it's all about

it's plain as the day they blew those towers down

well, blackwater's got the gear

but still the banksters' fear

fat boys swingin' from every tree in town

.

but you only get a forty-buck bag

what a drag

for sixty-five ...bucks of food stamps

.

yep, you only get a forty-buck bag

what a drag

for sixty-five mmm fuck some food stamps

What we need is some background music, a couple of singers and a digital video cam corder.

it's an old song, maybe written in 84 or so, new last verse.

that last verse will probably be changed, a word at a time, as time wears on... especially with input from co-writers.

and then there's always the possibility that it isnt worth working on in the first place.

i could record it now, but the sound quality i get out of this laptop is not so good... i'm thinking about getting a real recorder and trying to write again, but i dont like the sound of my voice any more... so i'll just wait and see...

in the meantime, rewrite to your heart's content, if you want to.

here's the song... dont say i didnt warn you...

but this might give you enough of an idea of the tune that you can write more verses.

forty buck bag

I think you need to go ole timey. Folks who've been down this road before. Not really "protest" songs rather than a commentary on the times they faced and what put them there.

Uncle Dave Macon-

Wreck of the Tennessee Gravy Train

The people of Tennessee want to know who wrecked our gravy train,
The one we thought would run so well, and now who can we blame?
They want to know who greased the track and started them down the road,
The same old train contained our money to build our highway roads.

Chorus
But now we're up against it and no need to raise a row,
But of all the times I've ever seen we're sure up against it now,
The only thing that we can do, is do the best we can,
So follow me good people, I'm bound for the promised land.

Now I could be a banker without the least excuse,
But look at the Treasurer of Tennesee and tell me what's the use,
We lately bonded Tennessee for just five million bucks,
The bonds were issued and the money tied up and now we're in the plump?

Chorus

Some lay it all on parties, some lay it on others you see,
But now that you can plainly see what happened to Tennessee,
For the engineer pulled the throttle, conductor rang the bell,
The brakeman hollered, "all aboard," and the banks all went to Hell.

Chorus

All I've Got Is Gone

I am going to sing you a brand new song,
She's a dandy sure as you're born,
Everything just running in rhymes,
Of matters and things considering these times.
All I got's gone, All I got's gone.

Whote lot of people bought automobiles,
Didn't know how they's a-going to feel,
Rode around so grand and stout,
The note came due, they couldn't pay it out.
All they got's gone, All they got's gone.

Whole lot of people a good little farm,
Doing well and didn't know no harm,
Sold the farm and bought a bought a larger one too,
The notes came do, they had to ski-doo.
All they got's gone, All they got's gone.

Went to the bank for to get some money,
Tell you right now I didn't find it funny,
The banker said, "I have none to loan,
Get your old hat and pull out home."
All we've got's gone, all we've got's gone.

Guns to shoot, got the lightning cars,
Tailor made suits and smoking cigars,
Going to the barbershop, pampered and rubbing,
Tell you right now, they're down and a-grubby,
All they got's gone, All they got's gone.

Whole lot of farmers want the riding plow,
They had to borrow a tractor to find out how,
When they broke a pin, took a whole lot more,
They better keep walking and plowing their mule,
All they got's gone, All they got's gone.

Don't like to see ladies who wear satin dresses,
Their husband bankrupted and embracing excessess, [?]
They better be home washing up kids,
Patching their dresses or their husbands britches, [?]
All they got's gone, All they got's gone.

Said the bone dry people, says they won't do,
For on the sly, they'll have a whiskey too,
Goodbye brandy, says farewell gin,
Thank the Lord, wife calls me friend,
But all I got's gone, All I got's gone.

it's like there's this force, outside somewhere, telling me, "look, you're not gonna live forever, and you got a lot of stuff to do... so get on with it."

and i'm goin', "well, so what? what difference does it make?"

all i get for an answer is a big ominous silence.

pisses me off.

Another old one would be "Sixteen Tons"

...Another day older and deeper in debt
...If St. Peter comes tell him I can't go
cause I owe my soul to the company store

There are a lot of the old Folk Tunes that would work.
