Television personality and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee led a batch of 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls in the latest poll from Gallup.

Huckabee, ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), and ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) were selected as the top three GOPers whom Republican respondents would "seriously consider supporting" in the next presidential contest. Seventy-one percent of people polled selected Huckabee; 65 percent selected both Romney and Palin.

Sixty percent of Republican respondents also said they would support former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.). Lesser-known potential candidates Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) and Republican Governors Association Chairman and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour brought up the rear; they received 32 and 26 percent support, respectively.

The poll showed that several contenders have broad-based support among Republicans, but are not as well-received among the broader population. Only 40 percent of all respondents said they would "seriously consider" supporting Huckabee, the top-ranked Republican, in 2012.

No more than 40 percent of independents would "seriously consider" supporting any Republican candidate. Huckabee and Romney each earned 40 percent, while Palin received 32 percent support from the bloc.

Fifty percent of all respondents said that Huckabee is qualified to be president and 49 percent said the same of Romney. The numbers drop off for Palin, whom 31 percent of respondents said was qualified to be president.

The three front-runners remained the same as in a July Gallup poll that asked respondents which candidate they were likely to support.

The poll was based on telephone interviews of 1,021 Americans between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Subscribe to *Sarah Palin 2012*

So this is the face of the future GOP eh? Their new savior is a big government-loving theocrat. Excuse me while I go and puke.

Don't bother, it is really quite predictable.

If Jesus was on the ballot, 'Mericans would elect Pontius Pilot with write in votes.

Traitors, criminals and murderers rise to the top in a system such as exits.

Was it someone here who called Huckabee Richard Nixon with a banjo?

The Southern Baptists and like-minded "Bible bangers" (as the Brits call them) control that party and comprise the VAST majority of those in this country who will still admit to being GOPers (around 20 percent of the overall electorate).

Huckabee is a "former" Southern Baptist pastor. "God" wants him to be President. We've heard this shtick already, as recently as 1999-2000 when "God" allegedly told Guv'nuh Gee Dubya Bush the same thing. Junior heard the "audible voice o'Gawd" and acted on the "call."

I'm trying really hard to muster up some surprise. Really I am. It was a toss up between the big government loving theocrat and a big government loving traitor. Since that last big government traitor was shot down in flames, the theocrat seemed the likely choice to blow smoke up the butts of the people.

And if the Huckabee gets into trouble they can just get a pretty big tittied "conservative" woman to run as his VP and the so-called conservatives will vote for them.

To be fair, Palin wasn't brought on board because she was pretty, she was selected as a foil to the selection of Obama over Hillary. I think (guessing) the thought was to attract those disaffected Hillary! supporters who were saying just prior to Obama's nomination as Dem ticket main that they'd rather vote for McLoser than for Obeyme.

Clearly the gambit failed. The subsequent perking up of guys to Palin's obvious good looks was a side benefit more than a cause, in my view.

So this is the face of the future GOP eh?

If Huckabee is the GOP's Pres candidate in 2012, this will be strong evidence to support the theory about party collusion and pre-selection of the President by the Powers That Be. Indeed, with Huckabee as their Pres candidate, it would mean that the GOP was throwing the 2012 election so Obama could serve 2 terms.

Run a sure loser to guarantee Obumski wins.

Been done many times before.

Stevenson was forced to run twice to ensure Ike would win. Many times a sure loser is placed as VP to ensure a proper choice at election time.

Huckabee, or any of the other shades of patriot pastel currently on the scene, aren't ready to take on the entrenched socialists. I'm thinking we'll have some viable form of political expression by '12, and it won't be coming from the Rs as they currently stand.

We need a no party, no ideology candidate running as American.

The current "cream of the crop" of both parties looks more like scum on pig swill.

Without question.

I do wonder though, it does seem far too late. Even sweeping Congress clean in one fell swoop leaves a huge unaccountable bureaucracy in place.

The alternative is do nothing.

Barring a revolution of the masses, the ruling elite will continue down this path to war and chaos.

There's a reason why Satan offered Jesus all of the kingdoms of earth as a Temptation.

Somewhere hidden in that sentence is a rhetorical question.

I'm sure glad he didn't take him up on that offer. He could have, it wasn't impossible for Jesus to sin or it wouldn't have been a temptation to him.

So why did Satan only offer Obummer an America in decline in return for some swanky government housing?? I mean, unless The Halfrican swipes the White House silver he's not getting much out of the deal beyond a temporary ego-boost.

Palin wasn't brought on board because she was pretty,

Right, this obscure less than one term governor of a state with the smallest poluation, former small town mayor was the MOST QUALIFIED person on McCain's short list.....

Palin was picked for her vast political experience, because she is such a foreign policy expert and she would have been picked for this expansive and impressive resume even if she were butt ugly, overwieght or had the traditional dike in politics looks that really get voters excited.
