I am, of course, not so naive to believe everything the government says. And I do believe the gov does do things covertly and illegally to further its own interests or that of it's internal minions, and that the gov is pretty evil these days.

On the other hand, I don't believe every government conspiracy theory that's aired. I think there has to be allowances for crazy people outside of the gov to do things. Some one taking a gun and shooting up a school or whatever can happen, especially given the drugs put out by big pharma.

Airing every event as a conspiracy does a disservice to those efforts to disclose events that credibly ARE conspiracies. For me, the credible conspiracies are those to which a reasonable pro-gov motive could be attached. So... show me first a motive for the Hood shootings. Without that, I'll lean toward the crazy guy/PO'd muzlim theory as the most likely one.

agreed. at this point in time, that's a reasonable response. the one aspect that's troublesome is the initial reports of hasan's death.

the one aspect that's troublesome is the initial reports of hasan's death.

There's naturally going to be a lot of chaos on this kind of event. We all already know how rumors & gossip get twisted just inside local communities, so I think some confusion on facts is inevitable when something like this happens. And I think the guy was shot, was it 4 times? So I don't think the death report is very significant.

What I do think is strange/hypocritical is the gov not treating this as "terrorism". It seems the rule in practice is, if they catch someone BEFORE they do it, it's terrorism. But if it's AFTER they do it, it's just an ordinary crime.

I guess since 9-11, they want their pre-emptive, unconstitutional "anti-terror" activities to be batting 1.000.

Lieberman has suggested it.
