Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views have made him a TV lightning rod, said Wednesday that he is leaving the cable news channel effective immediately. “Some leaders in the media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and engage in constructive problem-solving,” Mr. Dobbs said just after 7 p.m., suggesting that he would remain involved in the civic discourse, but perhaps not on television. “I’m considering a number of options and directions,” Mr. Dobbs added. Wednesday’s program will be his last on CNN, one of his employees said earlier in the evening. Mr. Dobbs’ contract was not set to expire until the end of 2011. He told viewers that CNN had agreed to release him from his contract early. Mr. Dobbs informed his staff members of his intentions in a meeting Wednesday afternoon, catching some of the staffers off-guard. Well known for his political positions, Mr. Dobbs is an outlier at CNN, which has sought to position itself as a middle ground of sorts in the fractious cable news arena. The CNN employees said Wednesday that they did not know if Mr. Dobbs was moving to another network. Mr. Dobbs met with Roger Ailes, the chairman of the Fox News Channel, in September. At the time Mr. Dobbs was viewed as a potential hire for the Fox Business Network. But a Fox spokesperson said Wednesday, “We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.” Mr. Dobbs has been with CNN since its founding, save for a two-year stint at a Web site called Space.com. He has evolved over the years from a straight-laced business anchor to an outspoken commentator who rails against illegal immigration and taxpayer bailouts, among other subjects. Lately, though, he has saved most of his opinions for his afternoon radio show, which made its debut in March 2008. It is on the radio show that he talked repeatedly about the conspiracy theory claims that President Obama is not a United States citizen. When he mentioned the citizenship issue on CNN over the summer, his bosses were forced to call it a “dead issue.” More recently, Mr. Dobbs’ views on immigration provoked a protest by Hispanic groups. Members of the groups complained that CNN was allowing Mr. Dobbs “to spread lies and misinformation about us each night.” Last month the New Jersey State Police were called to Mr. Dobbs home to investigate a report of gunfire. Mr. Dobbs suggested that his family had been singled out because of his views on illegal immigration and border security.

US Newsmen Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs Targeted By Assassins By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers Disturbing FSB reports circulating in the Kremlin today are warning that a putsch against dissident newsman in the United States has begun and has targeted two of their right-wings top television journalists, Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs. According to these reports, one of CNN’s top television news anchors, Lou Dobbs [photo 2nd left], was targeted by assassins a little over a fortnight ago when his house in New Jersey was fired upon while his wife was standing outside, and which Dobbs acknowledged for the threat it was intended to be by stating, “They've now fired a shot at my house while my wife was standing next to the car. It's become something else.” Next to fall, these reports continue, was one of Fox News Channel’s most controversial, and most popular, television news anchors, Glenn Beck [photo top left], who was gunned down in a New York City radio studio yesterday by a snipers bullet and is reported to be recovering in hospital. [Note: US propaganda media sources are stating that Beck is in hospital due to an attack of appendicitis as they fear a violent reaction from Beck’s supporters should the truth be known.] These attacks against Beck and Dobbs appear to have been orchestrated from the White House, who with their allies in the ‘mainstream’ media have launched an unrelenting ‘war’ against all dissident journalists failing to keep in lock-step with Obama and his ‘plan’ to radically change the United States forever. Most interesting to note about those Obama forces targeting dissident journalists in the US is their being led by the White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, who was recently ‘outed’ by Beck for her praising of the brutal Chinese Communist dictator Mao Zedong as being one of her “favorite political philosophers”. Unfortunately for Beck, however, was his failing to realize that all followers of Mao, like Dunn, adhere to the late Chinese Chairman’s words to the very letter, and none being more important than his most famous phrase, “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” The fears of those forces backing Obama against Beck and Dobbs, and other dissident journalists like them, is their fueling of what is being called “Scary Right-Wing Rage”, and which has resulted in the Obama’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “unleashing the dogs of war against his political opposition at home: Americans alarmed by his radical policies on gun control, abortion, illegal aliens, nationalizing the economy, and more.” And as we can further read: “A secret 10-page DHS document sent to law-enforcement agencies nationwide is stirring up a political firestorm. Entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” the DHS report, dated April 7, sloppily (or cleverly and maliciously) demonizes millions of law-abiding Americans, conflating them with violent, criminal groups such as Neo-Nazis and “white supremacists” simply because they adhere to political beliefs at variance with those of the administration. The report employs the word “rightwing” 50 times, and in nearly every instance (47 times) it is in the context of “rightwing extremism,” “rightwing extremist,” “rightwing terrorist,” or “rightwing terrorist and extremist.” Tellingly, the report doesn’t bother to define any of these politically charged terms, a major dereliction of due diligence in such an important matter. It is similarly shoddy in using terms favored by left-wing extremists to describe their opponents on the right, such as “antigovernment,” “hate-oriented,” “paranoid,” “dangerous,” and “violent.” Even worse for these rightwing ‘extremist’ followers of Beck and Dobbs are new reports warning that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has activated an assassination programme aimed at these “Enemies of the State” for their failure to support the new Obama regime and who are intent upon the radical changing of the United States. And for those Americans believing that their military forces will protect them from these assassination squads, they should better think again as reports from the US are now showing that their National Guard Troops are being trained to “engage and kill” any US militia forces they may encounter. But to the worst of the actions being planned against these rightwing US dissidents by their government we can glimpse from the recent words of the former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray, who in warning of the CIA’s new tactics against their enemies, and what the American people will soon see unleashed upon themselves, stated, “I'm talking of people being raped with broken bottles, I'm talking of people having their children tortured in front of them until they sign a confession. I'm talking of people being boiled alive.” Important to note too about these CIA torturers and assassins is Italy’s delivering the first legal convictions, anywhere in the World, of 23 of their agents today for the kidnapping and torture of an Egyptian man later found to be innocent of the claims made against him, and all of whom still walk free in the United States preparing further atrocities against their own citizens. The American people, and most sadly, continue to live their lives in near total ignorance of the monstrosities being committed in their name and the worst atrocities being planned against them by those they have long mistakenly believed would protect them. The great American founding father Thomas Jefferson once warned these people that “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” And, perhaps, no better example of little the American government fears its own people can be evidenced than in the very words of the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who in speaking before a group of Pakistani lawmakers this past week uttered these astounding words, “At the risk of sounding undiplomatic, Pakistan has to have internal investment in your public services and your business opportunities,’ she told the executives. The U.S. government taxes ‘everything that moves and everything that doesn’t, and that’s not what we see in Pakistan.’” Today in America there is tyranny because the citizens of this once great Nation failed to keep their ‘tree of liberty’ alive with, and in Thomas Jefferson’s words, “the blood of patriots and tyrants”. Now these ignorant souls must pay the price that history has always exacted from those who have failed to learn the lessons of history, a price that is always paid in blood, suffering and sorrow. The OSS worked with Joseph Tito (Yugoslavia), Mao Tse-tung (China), and Ho Chi Minh (Viet Nam). All three were aiding the allies in defeating Germany/Italy/Japan. Mao, even though he was a commie, didn't ask for much from America while he and his men were fighting Japan in northern China, just some weapons and ammo. In return, he freely gave us intelligence about Japanese troops, rescued downed fliers, and assisted us in setting up weather stations that helped our B-29 raids on Japan. We flew in first-aid supplies and medicine to his troops in a good-will gesture. We eventually sided with the corrupt Chiang Kai-shek Nationalists which precipitated the civil war in China after the war (his intelligence chief was known as the "Himmler of China"). Ho Chi Minh (not his real name) was the dominate player in French Indochina during WWII and sincerely admired America. He had been a waiter in New York and Boston before WWII before he went to Moscow for university work and that's where he caught the commie-flu. Above that he was for the complete independence of Viet Nam from France. He and the Viet Minh helped us with establishing intelligence networks and rescuring downed airmen from the Japanese. The British sided with France (imagine that) at the end of the war when France emphatically said NO! to independence. Ho Chi Minh thought that we would support the Annamites (Vietnamese) since we had kicked out the British at the beginning of our history. We sided with France and that led to our involvement in Viet Nam when the French left in 1954. It was a mistake that cost us over 50,000 lives. Sure, we worked with commies, but it was always for the ends of defeating the Axis powers. The OSS was compsed of Republicans, Roosevelt New-Dealers, and to a much lesser extent non-Communist leftists as well as a foreign communists (as mentioned above). I can recommend the book OSS by Richard Smith, a former CIA worker. Your library can get it on inter-library loan if they don't have it on their shelves.

"Over the past six months, it has become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us, and some leaders in media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here at CNN and to engage in constructive problem-solving as well as to contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day and to continue to do so in the most honest and direct language possible," Dobbs said during his 7 p.m. broadcast. Dobbs, 64, said he had discussed the issue with CNN President Jonathan Klein, who had agreed to a release from his contract "that will enable me to pursue new opportunities." In a written statement, Klein called Dobbs "a valued founding member of the CNN family." "For decades, Lou fearlessly and tirelessly pursued some of the most important and complex stories of our time, often well ahead of the pack," Klein said. "All of us will miss his appetite for big ideas, the megawatt smile and larger-than-life presence he brought to our newsroom, and we're grateful to have known and worked with him over the years. "With characteristic forthrightness, Lou has now decided to carry the banner of advocacy journalism elsewhere. We respect his decision and wish him, Debi [Dobbs' wife], and his family the very best." Dobbs, who is the last of the 29-year-old network's original anchors, said he was considering "a number of options and directions." He cited the growth of the middle class, the creation of jobs, health care, immigration policy, the environment, climate change and the U.S. military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan as "the major issues of our time." But, he said, "Each of those issues is, in my opinion, informed by our capacity to demonstrate strong resilience of our now weakened capitalist economy and demonstrate the political will to overcome the lack of true representation in Washington, D.C. I believe these to be profoundly, critically important issues and I will continue to strive to deal honestly and straightforwardly with those issues in the future." Dobbs was with Cable News Network from its initial broadcasts in 1980, acting as chief economics correspondent and host of the business program "Moneyline." His coverage of the 1987 stock market crash won him the George Foster Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting. That was one of many awards he received while at CNN, including an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement that he received from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2005. Dobbs left the network in 1999 to found SPACE.com, a Web site devoted to space- related subjects. He returned to the network in 2001 as anchor and managing editor of CNN's Moneyline News Hour, which became Lou Dobbs Tonight. His no-holds-barred, sometimes acerbic style brought him a loyal following, but also attracted controversy both to him and to the network, especially over the subject of illegal immigrants.
