Democrat Bill Owens should not yet settle into his office. Despite being sworn in by Nancy Pelosi, Owens has yet to be certified by the New York Board of Elections for his "win" in the New York 23rd Congressional District special election, and there is a chance he may not have won the race after all.
When Dough HoffmanOwens' conservative challenger and the candidate of choice for grassroots Americans across the nationwas told he was 5,300 votes behind Owens with 93 percent of precincts reporting, he conceded the race. Unbeknownst to Hoffman, the election returns were off and he was actually much closer.
For example, the Watertown Daily Times writes, "Mr. Hoffman trailed in Jefferson County on election night by 557 votes. Now he's up here by 424 votes. The Conservative candidate led in Oswego County by 500 votes on election night. Now he leads by 1,748 votes."
In fact, Hoffman is now so close that the winner will be determined by the approximately 10,000 absentee ballots sent out before the election.
However, this "minor" issue of swearing in an uncertified candidate did not stop House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from installing Democrat Owens in the House right before the vote on "Obamacare"which passed by the narrowest of margins.
The Democratic Party is now steeped in the corruption of Chicago-style politics, and this is a perfect example of it. It makes no difference to Democrats if they used an unqualified person to help ram through their government-takeover of medicine. It's just how they play the game.
The issue is not whether Owens is found to be the true victor when all the votes are counted. The issue is that Pelosi used her power as House Speaker to essentially muscle-in an (at that time) unqualified personall for a much-needed vote.
This is Chicago politics now operating at the national level in the Congress of the United States.
