Now we have a little insight into why Obama said to not jump to conclusions about Nidal Hasan and why Congressmen were not briefed before the press leak. This murdering Muslim Terrorist who killed and wounded the soldiers and civilians at Ft Hood, Texas was an advisor to Obama's Homeland Security team. Look on page 29 of the Homeland Security Institute link below. I wonder how many more skeletons there are to come to of the cupboard. Who else is there in the government or its numerous advisors or Czars that will harm our country and citizens? Hasan's job as a psychologist was to treat soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and part of that job was listening to servicemen who had wrongly killed civilians or who knew of people who had wrongly killed civilians. So if anybody wants a reason why Hasan flipped out, should first start looking at what he heard his fellow servicemen tell him about war crimes they knew of, and then put his being a Muslim a few steps below that factor. The only reason his being a Muslim had anything to do with it is because he idendified with the people the other soldiers killed or otherwise mistreated.

There is no such quote. The Koran is somewhat vague and ambiguous, but the parts that most explicitly deal with jihad state that you "fight in the way of Allah" and to observe boundaries i.e. proper conduct in war. Furthermore there is a distinction in the Koran between "infidels" who are idol worshippers and pagans, and monothestic "People of the Book" who include Jews and Christians. Jews and Christians are not infidels according to the Koran. Last but not least, if you want to see passages about annihliating your enemies, selling them into slavery, raping, plundering, and "Leave not alive anything that breathes," look no further than Deuteronomy in the Old Testament.
I looked it up and saw the distortion of the interpretation. There are people who claim one religion or another that are simply - wacked.
Right after 4:89, there is another passage 4:90 which says don't fight people who have a treaty with you. You wouldn't expect our wannabe propagadist to put those exculpatory words in, would you?
It also talks against murderers and rapists. I don't defend those who do evil in the name of God, Allah, or any other "heavenly being" as they exist in every religion.
To be honest Islam and the Koran is a rather convoluted and confusing belief system in many respects. However no more so than what you see in the OT. In fact there are numerous striking parallels between the OT and the Koran, and the Koran claims that it too comes from the same source as the OT.

The big difference between Christianity and Islam is Jesus taught forgiveness, and lived it to set an example even at the cost of his own life "Father forgive them they know not what they do." Both Islam and Judaism OTOH are mostly based on fighting back, and in the case of Judaism preeemptively attacking those whose land they claim their deity has given to them.
If one steps aside from dogma for a moment and looks at these belief systems from a strictly ethnographic viewpoint they begin to make more sense. Both religions evolved out of a very harsh environment, where survival was problematic at best, wracked by warfare and constant ethnic strife. Each elevates their own group above all others (a survival adaptation) and dismisses other groups as unworthy - even "subhuman". Which makes sense from the point of view that resources were severely limited and which meant not all could partake. Thus one has to have a rationale for killing others or preventing their survival. That this is no longer true is irrelevant, at this point, as those characteristics are so ingrained as to be almost nature. Historically the region has been riven by these irrational forces since time immemorial.

Got it. However, despite the fact we have so much focus on it today it is not the only region of the world which evidences such petty ethnic hatreds and strife. Take a look at India. It is a seething pool of both the best in humanity and the worst. Bound by the straitjacket of a caste system with warring sects and subgroups there is barely a week goes by without violence of some sort. One can find the same in parts of Asia as well.
