Government attitudes, which only in part reflect society as a whole, are hemming in the spirit of Man. Mankind has evolved to the extent where government effect, if put on the cost/benefit scales, is beginning to weigh down on the negative side. Government red tape, its close connection with the 10% of big business which rules the world, its increasing inroads into limiting individual privacy and ‘big brother’ approach to controlling what each of its citizens does, is stifling creative spirit.
It is creative invention which moves a society forward quickly, not fear and control. As yet, government never contributed any groundbreaking invention to society, but they have held plenty of destructive wars, so their track record in creative spirit is not good. Therefore they are not the ones to advise on how to foster invention and many of their rules and regulations effectively inhibit it.
At this stage in the evolution of mankind, government is mostly about restricting and controlling the populace and collecting taxes. These activities, while necessary in part, have gone too far and it’s time to call a halt. By reducing government’s controlling influence we could see beneficial inventions increase doublefold.
The technique of government control is fear. The vehicle to spread fear is the mass media. The mass media is controlled by some of the 10% of the world’s richest people, who have a disproportionate influence on government also.
The spectre of fear, delivered daily to the individual’s door by the mass media, is designed to make the individual feel helpless, afraid and needy of the government and its police force. These attitudes in the individual should be challenged not encouraged. Inventions do not come from scared people, so why feed people a daily diet of fear? The motive can only be to gain control.
Isn’t it time we stood up for individual spirit and reduced the influence of government to acceptable levels?
