The huge sized 1GB memory is from IBM built for mainframes in late 1970’s. The same 1GB memory comes in a micro-chip nowadays! (1 image)

My, now way out of date, Macintosh Dual G-4 Processor Tower has more raw computing power than the mainframe that 1970's memory was destined for. It is faster and has a higher throughput. The applications I'm running were undreamed of, except at Medialab, in the 70's.

The speed with which computer technology has evolved is simply stunning when you take it all in. I've been using it since the first Mac in the mid 80's and the Mac I am using now bears only a slight resemblance to that first machine with it's 512K of memory and single sided hard floppy - with no hard drive available at all.

My now retired IBM neighbor was reminiscing about back in the day when they were thrilled to have achieved 24baud internet connection speed.

As an addendum - when a hard drive did become available for that first Mac of mine it had 20 Megabytes of storage and cost 2 Grand. Now I can buy a 4 GB memory stick for 12 bucks at Big Lots.

Lord - 1.5 Terabytes for 95 bucks. When I think about it the sheer magnitude makes me laugh. My current drive (less the 20% full) is only 80 GB. I have no idea what I would do with 1.5 Terabytes.

Collect a bunch of movies that you downloaded but never end up watching. At least that is what I do.

Once you're declared an "enemy of the state" for posting the truth at 4um, it would leave the government plenty of room to plant lots of kiddy porn on your computer and dispose of you permanently.
