Most of us are aware of the technique of divide and conquer. It has been used by power-possessing beings for eons. It is tried and tested and it works.

Many of us are tired of the excesses of government. They have ever-growing powers to control us and interfere in our lives, but we have no power to control them. No-one is there to make them accountable for their often questionable actions. Forget voting, we know that doesn’t work.

If you had the choice of dealing with government, would you? Let’s say it was optional, just like dealing with any retailer or business. You don’t deal with a business when you are treated rudely, arrogantly, or as if you are a bit stupid. What you do is choose another business, dealing in similar goods, where you are treated well and with respect, and you deal with them.

Well here’s an idea. Let’s have two governments. Two governments I hear you say. Isn’t it enough that we have one? How the hell can we afford two of them?

But here is the idea. We only agree to elect a second government if they agree to halve taxation and back off from invading our privacy. They have to write it into a new policy document to accompany the Constitution. These new policies (of the second, competing government) can only be changed by a two thirds majority of the population in a referendum.

Then we elect the second government in, and let the 2 governments survive in a competitive environment. This might just make them more respectful. It will also give them less time to nosey into our personal lives. We choose to pay taxes only to the government we like. It is an either/or situation.

Let’s see them survive in a competitive situation. If they are good at what they do, they will.
