Our 16 year old cat is running laps at the speed of light right now, trying to get a little attention. (She does this after taking a dump).
I wasn't ever a cat person until about 6 years ago when I found a stray at the farm. She's had a bunch of litters and outlived most of them. She is the toughest cat I've ever seen. She made it as a kitten without much support the 1st winter at the farm. I've seen her kill rabbits twice her size and pack rats too. She drags them back to her place and feeds the kittens. [What a woman]!
After that 1st winter we became friends and now I drive out to the farm through wind, snow, sleet and rain to feed her and her kids. I love that cat. (Right now she has 5 offspring living with her).
We also have the old gal at home cat that we spoil rotten.
Doing what's right isn't always easy but it's always right.
Besides that she comes when I whistle. Your cat dont do that.
Mine does !!! I've seen her come running after I whistled from a half mile or more away.
Sometimes I'm working on a tractor or farm implement and she'll just come over and make herself at home, and stay with me all day long. I'll go into the shop and she'll follow me.
She comes and shows me where her litters are and even when she kills something to eat, she'll come and get me to follow her to show me. One time, she took me to a combine where a rabbit was bleeding to death, and she sat down and waited for it to die.
Sometimes I'll pull into the yard with the tractor (it's a big 4 wheel drive) that sits way up in the air, and she'll run up the steps and jump in my lap. I do love that cat !!!
She's really skinny but eats like a horse !!! I'm amazed that she has survived the coyotes, rattlesnakes and coons.
Doing what's right isn't always easy but it's always right.
...fine story about your cat. I love cats. Didn't at one time. Dumb. Cat came into my life and that was that. They're smart, loving, dignified, and tons of fun.

Damn.
I thot sure I had the smartest cat, now I have to share.
I live in the country and people drop unwanted cats off out here all the time. That is how I have gotten my cats and dogs for 40 years. This one acts more like a dog than a cat. She does not follow me all over, rather she walks in front of me all the time, weaving from side to side so I cannot pass her. Also like a dog, she has acute hearing and if anyone is at the door of she hears something outside she sits up alert towards the noise.
Christine may have a cute cat but its a dummy compared to mine.
No, but it does snuggle (they have almost dog like affection, which is strange for a reptile species). And it loves to sit on the shoulder or curl up on a chest and sleep.
Plus you should see it go through crickets. Cats just sit and toy with bugs, but bearded dragons go full mode predator on them. Totally cool to watch. :)
MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
By the way the cutest kitten in the world is currently sleeping on my shoulder.
