Canadian politicians and military brass, in their enthusiasm for fighting Israel's wars and covering up reports of prisoner torture, have opened themselves up for charges of war crimes and bringing on increased attacks on Canadian soldiers. Richard Colvin, a Canadian diplomat in Afghanistan had warned that detainees captured by Canadians and turned over to Afghan police were taxi drivers and farmers who had nothing to do with the Taliban but their treatment by Afghan police turned people against Canadian forces, leading to more attacks on them. Human rights lawyers are looking into launching a complaint against Canada before international tribunals which investigate violations of the Geneva Convention.
Tatarewicz: Disclosure of the torture would have dampened Canadian public support for the Afghan mission, something that is not in Israel's interest until its Afghan and Iraq enemies are fully neutralized to ensure Israel's security.
